I thought the sales tax was final. If I buy it and then go to another dealer, they will just pay me trade in value, correct?
Not sure on the value on yours but the trade in value on mine according to KBB (who know how correct it is) is more than i paid for it by about 1,000 and i have over 30k on mine so I would say you would make money on a trade in buy I have never just out right sold one to a dealer. Either way the dealer will end up selling it for more than you will have paid or received that's just business. The dealer isn't gonna buy something for 30k and then sell it at a loss or even break even. You also could trade it in towards a newer nicer F150 with your current one and get a brand new truck that you really want. I will probably trade mine in for a newer maverick in the next few years especially if they release a Raptor or Sport model

Another option you Could explore is just selling it private sale to someone. They are still popular enough that it wouldn't take long and you could #1 help someone find one and not get gouged, #2 make a little extra.

Why would you want to keep the F-150? You're going to burn at least twice the gas. Every time I look at a full-size truck I can't understand why people drive these things. I park them at the dealership and it just seems like such an awkward mess to own on a daily basis. I mean I get it if you have to tow something, but they seem like a big waste of everything. They're even too tall to get payload in without killing your back.

Because F150s are built really well and have way more cargo space and interior room. The maverick is an economy vehicle, and yes gas mileage is a major selling point. However, I'm not so sure how long they will last. F150s have been on the road for many years, and the 2.7l engine has been reported with 465,000 reliable miles by one owner, so it's time tested

The hybrid is basically a next gen Prius transmission/ electric motor combo. Those things last forever. The ICE has been used a long time in other vehicles. Knock on wood, Mavericks should actually last a long time.

I just picked up my new maverick and the dealer offered me $10k more than I paid for it.

But you are under no obligation to complete the purchase and can just walk away.
