Once again, this was not an 'order' like a typical production order where you place it, give a deposit, and 6-8 weeks later it arrives. You PRORDERED this vehicle before the production launch of the truck. When you put your preorder in for this truck it only existed as a prototype and production 'plans.' Why is this so difficult to understand?

If you did not understand that was the situation when you converted your 'reservation' to the preorder then that is where the breakdown happened. Ford didn't jump the gun, you thought 'gentlemen start your engines' was a green flag and started the race before anyone is ready.
For you information Sir I did not order until the mid Sept, when I received an advertisement from Ford stating the Maverick would be available this Fall. When I ordered there was no information stating that was pending EPA approval or testing. So yes when I was told that my Hybrid would be here by mid December, I put faith in the sales rep. since he is waiting on his Maverick FE as well. I know there are supply chain problems and I except that in these trying time. Just remember the 5 P's, "Prior Planning Prevent Poor Performance" .

Any order before the 'Okay to Buy' milestone is a preorder. As long as that milestone has not been completed your truck will not ship.

I rarely commit this level of money to a product without figuring out what is going on first before placing the order. Car salesmen are right up there with ABC Warehouse salesmen more times than not. Correcting them that the 2.0L does NOT come with an eCVT is just one example.

No. They submitted their completed testing in June. The hybrid appears to have been selected for confirmatory testing. That's what is causing the delay. They would have been dumb to wait to see if they chosen for confirmatory testing to start production, because then none of the units would have been built yet, and we'd be waiting even longer

I'd recommend anyone who struggles with this kind of ambiguity not preorder products in the future.
Well if the testing was done before June when they submitted it to the EPA, and the production started last week of Aug. I would guess they waited until then on the EPA telling them they could start based on the EPA pending approval. But as the Hybrid is concerned, after reading allot of articles on this site. The EPA had reservations about the Hybrid before production started. Ford new this long before it was released to the public. So why would they allow orders to continue for something they can't sell yet. I am one of those that will wait for the Hybrid. But until they get it approved they should just build EB's. That could speed up the production line. And when the Hybrid is approved they could build Just Hybrids for a week or two to catch everyone up.

And For your information My order was on 14 Sept. That was after the OKTB went out I believe. And to add you can only make a decision on the information given at the time, it was not like I had Ford engineer to talk to.

Are they honestly just waiting for EPA testing or is there another issue? Have any of our friends in the Great White North seen any hybrids yet? I doubt Canada depends on the bureaucrats in the US EPA for its MPG/emissions standards.
No hybrids in Canada yet!

I'm starting to think there is more to this than meets the eye. It's always easy to blame the nasty government. It may be chip but does anyone know if Ecsape production of hybrids goes on. An Escape hybrid (same drive train) sells for about 10k more. Just asking for a friend

I've not seen any evidence that the EPA has had any "reservations" about the hybrid (if you have those articles please post). Confirmatory testing is a standard part of the process.

The escape hybrid has a different transmission model number.

That's how economies of scale work. Ford is building on the r&d put into and paid off by the escape platform to offer something more economical. Check out the price difference of the AWD 2.0T Maverick and escape.

I can only State what has been put out here on this site and the media. Because the EPA and Ford have not said much outside the fact that they are working on it. It can be anything or nothing. I am not complaining about the delay. I'm complaining about the lack of accurate information being released in a timely manner, by Ford. As to minimize the confusion caused by dealerships and the media. The Ford guy the only person on this forum that has any validity. So that is where I am going to get my information for now. All the other so called experts/my dealer said so can keep their info to themselves.

I think the real problem here is Ford Motor Company. Had they made a clear, concise, easy to understand statement about the "Hybrid situation", it would have made all the difference. People would not be getting false statements from uninformed salespeople.

For instance: "We understand that many of you have questions about your Maverick Hybrid orders. Specifically, when they will be scheduled / shipped. We want to assure you that we understand your frustration. As of right now, we are waiting for the EPA to do their testing, and give us to the ok to release the Hybrid. We anticipate this will take XX weeks, but cannot guaranty the government's timetable. Please be patient, we will follow up this email with another update next week."

Simple, to the point, and costs nothing to do. In fact if anyone from Ford is reading this, feel free to copy and paste. Just kick in some molded floor mats when my maverick comes in, and we will be even.
If I worked at the EPA and Ford used me as an excuse for delays I would not be happy about that. Now if the public on their own gave crap for it the attitude or the incentivizing may be different. EPA is not a friend of the public and is now more a political tool then anything else these days. So if the manufacturers play nice they may just do their jobs. When it comes to politics the truth is always in between the lines. In any case Mongo will be disappointed if no Mav under xmass tree this year 😤

I don't know if anyone has ever backed a project on Kickstarter or indiegogo but the forum is starting to sound like some of those projects I've been part of in the past. It's possible that by doing preorders the way they did, it have them a better indication of interest in the 2 platforms. By looking at the orders/reservations, they had a better idea of real world demand and can order materials accordingly. The issue is the communication piece. If that's the case, and they said that was the case and gave a timeline to resolution, ppl would still complain because they don't like the timeline, feel like they were duped, etc.

The Ford guy (Tim) specifically said the delay was EPA testing. The EPA's own documents say that testing can take 2-3 months. Both Ford and Tim have said to expect the results in October. Not sure what else ford could say, and it's not the EPA's job to communicate on these matters. Agreed that there are many dealerships that appear to be miscommunicating a lot of things. I'd ignore them.

I think you're reading waaaay to much into this. From all available evidence, the EPA is just doing their standard job of confirmatory testing. That's holding up final OKTB status, and ford has communicated that. Why would the EPA care that Ford said that, they had to say something. The EPA is just doing their job and Ford is just relaying that information. It's everyone these forums who are making wild assumptions.

I think everyone needs to take a deep breath with all of this. It's only been a couple week delay, and it's unlikely going to be more than a month delay. That's what we get for being the first orders.
