So what you are saying is that when you go to WaWa and order a coffee and you go to get it. They can tell you that your coffee is awaiting inspection, and you can't have it until it passes, but they don't know when that will be and your OK with that. But would it not of have been WaWa's responsibility to ensure the coffee be safe and available before they let you waste your time and possibly money on a product they can't provide! "Just Say'en"

And I'm not changing my order or my position. I just like to know what is going on by the people that should know. If they don't know then who is Flying the Plane??
Technically that coffee is in stock. The more accurate would be that Wawa has no coffee because it didn't pass customs at the border.

Wait….what about WaWa?

Anytime I’m in the northeast WaWa is a must stop for sub sandwich.

My Canadian dealer said they should see hybrid coming “very soon”, as in this month. Is there any word of Canadian approval? Don’t even know what we call it tbh
So, with some quick searching, it appears NRCAN is Canada's EPA equivalent. I cannot find their standards or regulations on fuel efficiency.

However, I did find their site that displays fuel economy, and interestingly, it only has the AWD version of the Maverick listed.

Does this mean Canada is even more SOL at the moment in this regard?

Ford Maverick Truth about Hybrid Maverick orders - not delayed says Maverick team 1633745476687

EDIT: Ok, here's the description of Canadian testing.

Fuel consumption testing (nrcan.gc.ca)

According to that, the NRCAN lets manufacturers do their own testing and don't seem to do any spot checking of their own. So not sure why the Maverick is listed there? Maybe Ford's just waiting for the EPA's ruling so they don't have to go changing anything elsewhere later.

That is a fantastic point... Don't need EPA approval to deliver to Canada, right? What's the hold up there?

EPA approval is indeed used to comply with Canadian regulations for most vehicles. See:

https://dieselnet.com/standards/ca/

Key passage:

An important aspect of the harmonization with US standards is the recognition of emission certificates issued by the US EPA. Under most Canadian regulations—including emission standards for light-duty vehicles, heavy-duty engines and off-road engines—there are two ways of demonstrating emission compliance:

  1. US EPA emission certificate—Every model of vehicle or engine that is certified by the US EPA and that is sold concurrently in Canada and the United States is required to meet the same emission standards in Canada as in the United States. The term concurrent sales means that for a US EPA certificate to be valid in Canada, at least one engine or vehicle covered by this certificate must be sold in a given year in the United States (or offered for sale in the case of off-road engines [5161]). Most vehicles and engines are sold in Canada under this concurrent sales principle. These vehicles and engines must be affixed with a US EPA emission label and do not require a Canadian emission approval or labeling.
  2. Environment Canada emission approval—Vehicles and engines that do not have a valid US EPA emission certificate must be emission approved by Environment Canada and affixed with a Canadian emission label.

There have been some dealers telling their customers that hybrid vehicles are delayed and won't be available for 6-8 months. Some saying there are thermal issues.

I want everyone to know they are NOT correct.

Hybrid scheduling and production continues each week.

OKTB (okay to buy) is pending EPA testing.

Information straight from the Maverick team.

Wondering if Maverick Hybrid EPA report is being held up by interagency squabble ??

Again you are right WaWa would have it in stock, and it would have been tested before it was to be ordered in the first place. Ford should have had all the technical stuff done I.E. the EPA # before they allowed anyone to order! They jumped the gun and that seems to be how big business works these day's. They are alway's betting they will get approvals on their products even before they submit them. as the Navy use to say "Damn the Torpedoes, Full Steam Ahead".

They did. They submitted the application back in June. Confirmatory EPA testing can take 2-3 months. So if they were selected for testing in August (when production began) that window would be right now.

Once again, this was not an 'order' like a typical production order where you place it, give a deposit, and 6-8 weeks later it arrives. You PRORDERED this vehicle before the production launch of the truck. When you put your preorder in for this truck it only existed as a prototype and production 'plans.' Why is this so difficult to understand?

If you did not understand that was the situation when you converted your 'reservation' to the preorder then that is where the breakdown happened. Ford didn't jump the gun, you thought 'gentlemen start your engines' was a green flag and started the race before anyone is ready.

So you state my point right there, they submitted the applications in June for testing, and instead of waiting for the EPA approval they went ahead and opened up ordering in June too! Testing is done prior to and during production. All critical testing should be done before ordering and mass production!

No. They submitted their completed testing in June. The hybrid appears to have been selected for confirmatory testing. That's what is causing the delay. They would have been dumb to wait to see if they chosen for confirmatory testing to start production, because then none of the units would have been built yet, and we'd be waiting even longer

I'd recommend anyone who struggles with this kind of ambiguity not preorder products in the future.
