Hi All,
My next oil change will be somewhere in the winter.
In our part of the country, the northeast, the winter can get quite cold.
My truck doesn't have a garage to park in, so it will start in the cold.
Wondering if I use 0w-30 instead of the recommended 5w-30 for this winter oil change, will that void the warranty? Also will that provide any benefit at all?
Any inputs will be appreciated!

0W-30 is actually recommended for cold climates:
From the 2023 Owners Manual

That's not for "cold climates", that's for "extremely cold climates" that drop down to -22ºF and below. Think Alaska, northern Canada. Not including much of Ontario (e.g. Toronto). Generally doesn't get anywhere near -22ºF anywhere in New York state, does it? Based on that, seems 5w-30 is still the recommendation from Ford.

Thanks. Didnt have time to read the manual. Probably should. So if 0w-30 is not needed for climate of NY, it won't hurt to use it in the winter, will it?

It will not hurt.
If you are in marginally cold weather I say go for it.

The second number, the 30 is what really matters.

0w means it "behaves like" a 0 in sub freezing but still behaves like a 30 when warm. Which your engine only spends a minute or two cold, and the rest of the time it is warm.

Having grown up in northern New England, the most reason to use lower viscosity oil then was to make it so the engine was easier to turn over in cold weather. Engines did not necessarily start so instantly in the sixties and a better cranking rate helped immensely. Today, engines are built to closer tolerances and ease of oil circulation on a cold start up is more important. Follow your manual, I do think for your area of NY there's no need to use a zero weight. I did live in Plattsburgh a few years. You might do it there as it's bit more extreme.

In my part of the country I can and do see temps as low as -28 F, sometimes for the better part of a week. If your parked outside with no engine block heater I would opt for the 0W30.
According to the chart Wizziard posted that weight should be acceptable for a wide range of temps and I would not hesitate to switch over from say after Thanksgiving to before Easter.

I know a fuel injected motor pops off so much easier than one with a carb in winter but it has been so cold here that I have had an S10 and a Sebring not start because it was too cold. The Chrysler was in a garage too. If its that cold I can't help but think that oil was stiff.

If you have a place to plug and don't have one already maybe get a block heater. That might serve you better in the long run.

The OP's question was if 0W-30 would void his warranty.
As it is a recommend alternative the answer is no.
As shown in the chart both 0W & 5W are recommended up to over 104ºF (40ºC). Well within New York state, climate.
