  1. Mobil 1 0w-30 full synthetic advanced fuel economy for mav AWD 2.0 ecoboost?

Hey hows it going? I kept using mobil 1 5w-30 extended performance oil. Now it's winter and I want to try this 0w-30 oil. The only mobil 1 I can find is this advanced fuel economy version, the other being ESP which is for European cars. Does anyone know if I can use this oil? Will only use it...
  2. Is transmission oil/fluid change easy enough for DIY? What kind of transmission fluid should I use?

Hi all, my maverick 2.0L, which is 18 months old, is approaching 60k which is recommended transmission fluid change. Wondering, how much will this fluid change cost at the dealer? Is it easy enough for DIY? I change oil all the time but have not changed tranny fluid. Since 90% of my driving is...
  3. Is there a dash tablet holder for maverick?

Need to get a tablet holder for long drives. It can not block the maverick's own screen. Due to the textured surface of the dash I doubt any suction cup type holder will work. Any ideas? There's this small pocket/trough in the center. Is there a holder that can snag into this space?
  4. Will maverick last over 150k with mostly highway driving?

My maverick is still less than one year old and I've been able to put about 25k miles on it. Still a few years from 150k mark but I heard this engine needs some expensive service around 150k. It seems ford design these engines with a goal of lasting only 150k miles so a lot of things may need...
  5. Changed oil in 5 minutes--the easy but incomplete way

That is true if you let the shop use their bulk purchased trashy filter
  6. Changed oil in 5 minutes--the easy but incomplete way

Plus, with the amount of driving, I will need to do an oil change every 2.5 months. going to the dealer every 2.5 months is no fun! I drive about 33k per year.
  7. Changed oil in 5 minutes--the easy but incomplete way

I'm not circumventing any dealer recommendations. The oil I am using is way better than the "synthetic blend" dealer's using, and the filter is way way better than dealer's trashy filter. Ford only wants your maverick to go past their powertrain warranty, but I plan to run mine over 300k miles...
  8. Changed oil in 5 minutes--the easy but incomplete way

No the other one is naturally aspired. I heard no matter what you do , you will need to have some major service of the ecoboost between 150~200k. So what the heck.
  9. Changed oil in 5 minutes--the easy but incomplete way

The only thing you need to make sure is the shop use the good filter. As far as I know only mobil one makes this full synthetic filter that they "Guarantee" last 20k miles. FRAM also makes this full synthetic filter says 20k miles but they don't have the word "Guaranteed" anywhere so I'll stick...
  10. Changed oil in 5 minutes--the easy but incomplete way

That's me. Please refer to my last post about my sept oil change.
  11. Changed oil in 5 minutes--the easy but incomplete way

well I have been doing this for many years my other vehicle went past 300k.
  12. Changed oil in 5 minutes--the easy but incomplete way

I always prefill the filter with some new fresh oil before I screw it on.
  13. Changed oil in 5 minutes--the easy but incomplete way

your local ford dealer will use the bulk drum oil and some trashy filter. I've only used mobil 1 full syn and filter in my other vehicle and it lasted over 300k miles when I traded it in.
  14. Changed oil in 5 minutes--the easy but incomplete way

Today I did my 3rd oil change for my maverick. Odometer reading 19058, almost 3 months since my last oil change which was in Sept. I've drove almost 10k miles in this time span. The oil life reading was 28%. It was reset in Sept. The oil I use this time was 0w-30 mobil one. Chose 0w because...
  15. 235 50 R20 wheels and tires on a maverick?

Any possibility of 20 inch rims? According to my calculation it should be 50 aspect ratio. I go with 235 instead of 225 because 20 inch rims are usually wider. I think they are all 8.5 inch wide. Maybe even need 245 width tires.
  16. 225 55 R19 tires and 19 inch wheels on maverick?

I just realized, from another post, that I can use 225 60 R18 tires and 18 inch rims. What about 19 inch? It will certainly make it look nicer. If 19 inch rim according to my calculation the tire size has to be 225/55/R19. I understand the less blackwall on the tire will make the ride bumpier...
  17. bigger 18 inch wheels on maverick XL?

Hi, Just wondering if I buy a set of 18 inch wheels, and 18 inch tires, can I just put them on my MAVERICK XL which has factory 17 inch wheels? I understand it will probably make ECU confused and gives wrong information(like speed, mileage etc) since ECU doesn't know you switched to 18 inch...
  18. 235 65 r17 winter tires for maverick XL that has 225 65 r17?

Hi all, thinking of changing my factory all season tires to winter tires before the first snow. the factory tire size is 225/65/r17. I've found some good brand 235/65/r17 snow/ice tires at my local mavis discount. Wondering if those tires will fit without any modification? Will the extra 10mm...
  19. 2nd oil change at 9782 miles, and some thoughts

So true. Some dealer service people don't change the oil filter, and customer would not be able to find out. But with modern technology the filter dosen't need to be changed with every oil change, especially if you are using a good quality filter made for synthetic oil.
