I've been optimistically watching the power situation there as I have family in Texas. Sad to learn that wind power is being limited to just over 20% of ERCOTs needs because the transmission grid from the High Plains region needs work. Especially since natgas prices have doubled since Feb.

I use plastic milk jugs, weighted, with a 3/4" hole for rodent bait.

That kind of hail can be deadly.
I turned off my central air, TV, and most lights for a couple time periods yesterday to possibly help ease $$$ expense for my coop.

I've watched with shock some of the outrageous power bills these past couple years.
Luckily I live in a more moderate climate, ran the AC a couple hours a day for the first time starting last week, mostly to dehumidify. While I don't have any led lights in my vehicles my home is 95% 3000K led with a noticeable reduction in the electric bill. I don't miss that blink sound when the incandescent bulbs pop nor the heat they generate.

The rates in that chart are only for those electric providers that for many different reasons need current NOW ON DEMAND from the "uncontracted surplus reserves". The price climbs as one control to encourage the individual electric CO's to more accurately estimate their needs and purchase their anticipated quantities". The grid will have the ability to replace it by turning on maybe a new gas generator that can take several minutes up to 30 or more and cost tens of thousands just to bring it online. Battery backup can be brought up to help in milliseconds but what took wind hours to charge it overnight can be used up in minutes. That's why the price spikes are so large but normally last less than an hour. I use the instant price as a guide. I could just program my thermostat to set temp to say 86 from 3:30-9:15. OR, of course, tie my thermostat to grid control.

Note: LCRA recently ordered 10 19 megawatt gen sets for a new peak load standby power plant due to be completed in 2025. Eighteen cyl (V18) 500mm bore x 580mm stroke capable going from 0 to 514 rpm full load in two minutes. (Figure out the battery needed to furnish the 19 megawatt needed while waiting for gen set to fire up).

eee-haw that's some serious container ship type hp. now tell me they're going to run on hydrogen and I'll be suitably impressed.
with a quick 2 minute startup battery backup would be a luxury not a necessity.

It will initially be nat gas fired But=
Edit to correct fuels:
  • Runs on natural gas, biogas, synthetic methanol and is capable of hydrogen blending
  • Minimal water consumption
  • Low greenhouse gas emissions
  • Ensures energy security in operation through fuel flexibility and seamless switching between fuels

It can be turned off if you don't ant to see it. I got rid of it because it blocks the view of traffic when I'm trying to back out of a parking space.

My God Man, get that Maverick out of that mouse infested dungeon!

JK, mine sits in the driveway for any crackhead to pee on.
I can't leave mine outside. If I did the crack/meth heads would steal the CAT.

How you do that? Does it come back next restart?

I looked through the manual and went out to the truck (a Lariat hybrid) but I could not retrace my steps on just how I got rid of it. The only setting in Rear View Camera was to set the delay.
The little icon you want to get rid of is connected with the parking aids (if an alarm goes off, it will show you the direction of the threat within the icon). There are multiple 'SETTINGS' menus. Two are available in the touch screen (under VEHICLE and under GENERAL) and another is available on the steering wheel (it looks like three horizontal lines).
Maybe your dealer can help you. Sorry I could not, other than to assure you that I was able to get rid of the icon.

Thanks not a big deal. Just that the screen is on the smaller size and feel the icon gets in the way.

Trust me all of you in the oven have my sympathy. 12 months in southern Arizona with a car with no AC, an apartment with a swamp cooler gives me some perspective. The outdoor pools were mostly deserted and the indoor ones packed. The riding stables wouldn't let the horses out except mornings and evenings.

Does the small amount you pay extra for Green buy you anything?
FYI
Just finished my session monitoring ercot web site with my finger on AC thermostat Made it today!!!
Operating reserves have increased 500-600 mega watts in last 10-15 minutes and I didn't turn my AC off!!!🥰🥰🥰
Earlier
Looks like ERCOT is going to make it tonight I see where they are currently pulling 1.266 GigaWatts from storage ( batteries or maybe from people that have Tesla power walls or pickups connected to grid??)😂😂😂
