Dealer added packages I didnt order

Well I just spoke with my salesman and of course when I brought it up he acted confused at first.

Then he said the lux package comes with the lariat package. I told him I knew they combined them for the 24 models but was pretty sure they were separate for 23.

He eventually just said "well that's how it was ordered". Sounds like it's going to be a take it or leave it kind of deal.

I'll probably still grab it when it comes provided they don't try anymore BS. Just kinda soured the whole experience for me.

Hey MTC just joined the forum. I've been lurking a little since waiting for my 23 tremor to arrive. I had originally ordered a 23 tremor xlt in avalanche grey with sunroof and sliding rear window as only added options.

I have a signed order sheet for my original order from my salesman (which I'm now finding out doesn't really mean much) with options and total of $32,315 msrp. Also that I'm to get dplan pricing as my mother in law works at the dealership.

A couple of months after placing my order I started to see pics online of the interior in the xlt tremor and was not what I was expecting and didn't really care for it. So I emailed my salesman and requested that he change my xlt to a lariat and remove the rear sliding glass option as it comes powered in the lariat package. He emailed me back and said he got the changes made and that was the last of our communication.

Fast forward I get an email saying my truck has been built. I get on and check the window sticker only to find that not only did he change it from xlt to lariat but also added the lux package as well as co pilot 360 and remote start. Another $3,910 in options I did not order. Bringing the msrp to $39,570.

From my research over the last day or so it seems this is a common dealer tactic to either get more money out of the customer that placed the order or to get them to walk away from the vehicle so they can just put on their lot for adm? Went from excited to kinda bummed after waiting 11 months for it to be built for there to be games now.

Anybody else been in this situation? Is there anything else that can be done or am I just kinda stuck with what I got and can take it or leave it? Thanks for any help I really appreciate it.

Without the lux package, and Co pilot 360, the Lariat will be missing all the upgrades that you will want. Anyone who buys a Lariat without them, later on regrets not getting them. Talk to your dealer and try to get them to lower the cost to you. Don't lose your truck.

Yeah I understand it's kinda odd to order the lariat package without the others, but honestly the only reason I upgraded from xlt to lariat was the seats.

I thought about keeping xlt and just adding katskins or some other covers but figured after the cost I might as well splurge on the lariat. Im sure ill be happy about the extras in the long run.

I think Im just upset about the dealership not being up front about things. I was thinking about seeing if they could knock some off or maybe give me some extras like bed liner/cover, extended warranty, etc.

We had a XLT/lux come in with the SIBL and 360 that we didn't order because of the perceived delay that constrains might slow our order. We were happy to get them.

That is why I always request from the dealer/salesman a snapshot of the changed DORA to verify that the changes were done correctly.

OP said he was getting vehicle @ D-plan. There is no negotiation on price.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm most likely still going to go through with the purchase of the truck, as long as there is no more surprises when that time comes.

Ive been telling myself that at least Im getting something of value with the extra Im paying versus them just outright marking it up.

That's what I keep telling myself. It's not like I'm getting ripped off. Especially since I'm getting dplan on it. I think it's still a good deal. I just don't like being played.

Does anyone know for sure if you could build a 23 lariat without the luxury package?

I'm almost certain you could get them separate but not 100%?

At least you got value add-ons instead of Nitrogen in your tires, locking lugnuts, faux ceramic coating, 3d tail lights and the list goes on
