Tim in this livestream just said they were unhappy with only 20 allocations this month compared to the 45 they got last month.

Video queued to start of allocation talk:

Tim is very diplomatic, but the fact is this is BS and Ford can do better by these dealers that have sold so many of these trucks. I know there are lots of dealers and the allocations have to go around. However, when you've ordered with a dealer and the first week of the new months allocations are gone, you know you aren't going to get scheduled for the next 3 weeks. It sucks!

maybe all their ecoboost orders are filled so now they are just allocated enough for the hybrids (didn't watch the video)

That is a good point and I do think he said that all their EB had been ordered. Interesting! Still sucks! LOL

Running out of allocations sucks whether you've ordered from a dealer that has sold a lot of trucks or from a dealer that hasn't sold that many.

Ford can't "do better by" the one kind of dealer without doing worse by the other kind.

It's a zero-sum game.

Ford should be trying to allocate as much as possible by date of order. Yes, supply constraints can effect this, but the goal should be to prioritize those orders that have been in the queue the longest. Perhaps that is what they are doing, but we have no real idea (which makes it frustrating to those involved).

They are almost certainly prioritizing by:

  1. Date of order
  2. Availability of components
  3. Ability to deliver (Probably one of the reasons why many Hybrid orders were deprioritized)
  4. Delivery batches (Why allocation is by dealer, not purely by date of order)
  5. Efficiency of deliveries (Why send a half full truck somewhere this week when it can go fully loaded next week)
And probably a dozen other things that most people at Ford HQ aren't aware of, but their software is.

Given that, it seems dumb to throw a fit when the big dealerships don't get big allocations every week. Its complicated and only Ford's ERP software has the full picture.

What seems so simple to us is actually very complicated and needs a Skynet level computer.

Yep. Until every single person who pre-ordered a Maverick has theirs someone is losing.

I don't think many people understand how much decision making has already been offloaded onto machines. Our meat just can't keep up with silicon sometimes. Best we can do is set objectives, feed the machine the best data we can (This is where many organization fail), and hope for the best.

All we can do is sit back and hope the Lux Package isn’t constrained. Oh and the Hybrid gets more builds.
