This is such a #ucking letdown and literally makes no sense. No other truck I've ever seen has a different subframe for the same model with just a different trim for towhooks. That is the dumbest $hit ever. I was going to do the towhook mod for my XL AWD immediately upon delivery.

I think I can still make it work with some welding in the rear after the hooks are mounted in the front, we shall see. I would never install them for looks alone. HOW FU#KING DUMB FORD !!!

Thank You for making the video and pissing in my cornflakes...

Well.. I tested it out for everyone one.

Thank you for your efforts and videos!! It is nice to know what can work and cannot work. There are many of us waiting for build dates, and we appreciate the knowledge the 1st owner groups are sharing.

That's definitely a head-scratcher on the production front. I guess their assembly line is flexible enough that they can weld in extra pieces for one option package, but it wasn't expected.

On the bright side, that's a few extra pounds of payload for those non-FX4 buyers!

Obviously, that's one of the things that you are paying extra for with the FX4 and how Ford is keeping the cost of the Maverick down. It's not dumb, it's COMMON business practice and done by every manufacturer. It's the old saying of "you get what you pay for".

Glad I got the FX4 package. I only wanted it for tow hooks and was guesstimating by the time I bought the hooks and either replaced the lower bumper piece or cut out holes, I'd be best off just getting the FX4 package. Turns out I dodged this issue. I just wish I could get my sport mode back, hopefully I can code that in.

I got the FX4 package specically for the upgraded features for "off road" use. Would rather have fog lights instead of tow hooks but I'm not going to make a stink about it. Could always take the tow hooks out and replace them with fog lights, but that would involve modifying the Mavericks electrical system. Maybe an aftermarket company will make an adapter that plugs in behind the parking lights and in front of the factory wiring. Lights would be on whenever the regular lights are on but I could live with that also.

Bummer for the tow hooks but looks like very easy to mount fog lights on the front mounting plate.

Enough with the canned style "you get what you payed for" responses. I am so sick of that BS. It is NOT COMMON to change an entire subframe for this simple bolt on.

Every company out there that orders these as work trucks will buy the XL model and any work truck should have or have the ability to install tow hooks for work duty. Ford could have even made it an accessory kit. Every truck should have come with the FX4 style lower bumper, even if the hooks were not installed and could be added for later the cost of hooks and 6 bolts. That is just dumb shit.

I bought a base 2012 RWD Colorado and added the factory front tow hooks $90 and 20 min later.

Thank You FORD for ensuring my Maverick permanently retains the Cheap AF look and inability to pull from the front.

It's Ford's cheapest vehicle in their entire lineup. I hate to say it but cuts had to be made somewhere. It's priced cheaper than the ECOSPORT. Think about it. They can't include everything. The Chevy Colorado is far from the bottom of Chevy's line-up of vehicles and is one class above the Maverick. You can't compare the Colorado to the Maverick.

Edit: The Colorado is body on frame. Of course it's going to be easier to put tow hooks on it vs the unibody Maverick.

All true, but Ford is making a big deal about owner customization for the Maverick, and adding tow hooks is a very common upgrade, and would be super easy for the average person to do if those fake panels on the lower bumper popped out easily and if that rear attachment point was on all the trucks

I can see how installing a rear mount can be done by making a bracket and welding but if you were to do this you are modifying the frame and
