Could I just swap the actual inverter unit for thing similar Capacity and use the existing wiring?

Not sure if there's room were the OE one is. It's located in the center console. BCM may have a problem doing a swap.

I'm locating mine behind the rear seat.

Bear in mind the existing 110V wiring is only 18 AWG so even if upgrading the inverter you would probably want to stay under about 750 watts.

You should be able to do that though it will not be "plug & play". You will have to wire the new inverter in.

My XLT didn't come with an inverter so I am upgrading to a 1000W PSW inverter. Since I am not trying to use existing wiring, I can use higher rated wires and plugs.

I am using the bracket for the upgrade audio amp and speaker which I don't have.

I'd want to try and find a way to keep the existing wiring, I don't necessarily need more than the 400w, so the wire size wouldn't be an issue, I apparently just need a 400w pure sine wave inverter from what I'm understanding is the real issue?

That should do it. They do sell 400W PSW inverters

So my next issue ends up being all the existing 400w ones I see come with wall style outlets already built in. Any advice for how to wire up the existing truck ones into it instead, or is there a type that already exists that's more applicable to this goal? If you don't know, no worries, thanks for the help so far.

I imagine that you could use a replacement plug from a hardware store to wire into the new inverter.

I'm still not sure if you will have problems with the onboard computers if you disconnect the existing hardware and install something different. These new vehicles tie things together with BCM's and other modules and cutting wires to hook to different equipment may cause all sorts of problems.

Here's a link to a video that shows how I plan on adding a 500 watt pure sine wave inverter, I will only run a cable to the rear bed cubby to make it an even easier mod.
