I purchased the Bakflip from Real Truck. After installing, I discovered water leaks everywhere. I contacted Real Truck and followed
their suggestions to solve the problem. After trying various solutions, I came to the realization that I was an idiot to spend hours trying to
fix an item that I had spent $1000 for. I again contacted Real Truck and told them I wanted to return the cover. This is where it gets interesting.
Real Truck kept trying to get me to say it was a "warranty Issue" and therefore I needed to call the manufacturer (which they insisted was the same company as Real Truck? Huh?) I contacted Bakflip and they encouraged me to claim it was not a "warranty issue". I finally understood the difference and I again contacted
Real Truck and told them that there was no mechanical issue with the cover and I simply was "not satisfied" with the quality. The agrees to take it back and emailed me a pre-paid FedEx label.

Now the real pain in the ass part. I had thrown out the box and needed to find something to return the cover in. UPS stores had nothing, so I went to U-Haul. U-Haul carries a "TV Box" but they had none in stock. The Manager remembered that they had just received some large hitches that morning and brought me to the back room. One of the boxes was almost identical to the box Real Truck/Bakflip uses to ship the cover and the Manager gave it to me. That saved about $40. After buying some packing materials I repacked the cover (not easy) and called Fedex. As soon as Real Truck was notified that FedEx was scheduled to pick up the cover, the credited my credit card. Very nice.

I purchased a Lomax Stand cover form Agricover for about the same price and I have had much better results.

I don't believe that the Bakflip is necessarily a bad product. I just think it does not fit the Maverick well at all. The Lomax is much more difficult to install
but without going into great detail, that is actually a good thing as the Lomax method seals the cover to the bed much better.

Was this recent? Real truck literally told me you cannot return any covers that are installed…

I hate the cover I bought and they’ve been no help at all. Refuses to respond to any inquiry

I also bought the Bakflip MX4, and yes it leaked horribly when I first got it. I've used almost a whole tube of RTV black silicon sealant and it still leaks, but not as bad. As far as I can tell, the leaks are along the bending parts of the cover, not along the edges (I've sealed the side and front edge leaks, which were the worst). It is a nice looking cover and seems secure enough, but not worth the $1000 with all the leaking issues (search for other posts on here with similar reports).

I've had tonneau covers for the last 25 years and can't tell you how disappointed I was with my Bakflip MX4. Between using silicon putty and replacing the rubber seal along the tailgate, I now only have minor leaks compared to how much of a leaky sieve it was from the factory. I regret the purchase.

Bottom line, it's a poorly engineered design, especially the corners.

I think the problem lies in the fact that these new tonneau covers are flush with the bed. My old ones were three piece aluminum designs for the rails that went around three sides. The Bakflip only has two side pieces which leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to waterproofing in the corners.

Interesting. My LOMAX has spots it leaks at but it's mainly just the Maverick bed. I've had a LOMAX on a Tacoma and it was the same deal. Family has one on their 2500, same deal lol. I'd never expect a perfect seal with a tonneau cover. There will always be some leakage especially around the giant gaps in the tailgate and usually the corners near the rear window.

Not sure how bad your leak was, but without pics it's kinda just your word and that only goes so far online. I don't doubt you, but having a tonneau cover on the past 3 trucks plus installing on my families truck, I know what to expect. If you want a perfect seal you are going to have to add your own weather stripping in certain spots for pretty much any tonneau cover. Especially during washing.

Also, every single truck bed flexes.

And lastly, tbh, the LOMAX isn't that great on the Mavericks compared to the full sizes and mid sizes. There is very little room for adjustment. But for the price, still my choice.

That said... I'd never order from realtruck to begin with. Ive never actually seen a reason to. Always keep the box for something like this until you can actually test it. Might not be optimal for a lot of folks, but that's the nature of it. I'm actually shocked they accepted a return without the box. I wouldn't.

I could care less if you believe me and as my post said, I've had 5 trucks/tonneau covers on 5 different trucks over the last 25 years. I also know what to expect.

If I cannot leave my golf clubs on the bedrug during a rainstorm as the bag will soak through with water, the tonneau is not working correctly.

Good to know that Realtruck doesn't stand behind their products. I will order from another vendor.
Try Truck2Go.co they’ve been outstanding. I bought the SyneticUSA retractable bed cover and have been pleased with it.

I think any bed cover on the Maverick box will have issues. With a unibody design there is no gap between the box and cab. Therefore no place for water to drain. I finally had to fill the space between cover and cab with a rectangular strip of foam all the way across. Still ended up with a lot of RTV sealant at the corners. Also, the plastic on top of the bed sides has a seam near the cab that will leak a lot if not sealed. There are good tailgate seal kits that work well if you get creative with installation. Mine came with the REV Hard Folding Cover.

The seams can be filled with something such as "Flex Seal Paste" and then smoothed. This type of paste "sets" but remains somewhat flexible.
