I purchased the Bakflip from Real Truck. After installing, I discovered water leaks everywhere. I contacted Real Truck and followed
their suggestions to solve the problem. After trying various solutions, I came to the realization that I was an idiot to spend hours trying to
fix an item that I had spent $1000 for. I again contacted Real Truck and told them I wanted to return the cover. This is where it gets interesting.
Real Truck kept trying to get me to say it was a "warranty Issue" and therefore I needed to call the manufacturer (which they insisted was the same company as Real Truck? Huh?) I contacted Bakflip and they encouraged me to claim it was not a "warranty issue". I finally understood the difference and I again contacted
Real Truck and told them that there was no mechanical issue with the cover and I simply was "not satisfied" with the quality. The agrees to take it back and emailed me a pre-paid FedEx label.
Now the real pain in the ass part. I had thrown out the box and needed to find something to return the cover in. UPS stores had nothing, so I went to U-Haul. U-Haul carries a "TV Box" but they had none in stock. The Manager remembered that they had just received some large hitches that morning and brought me to the back room. One of the boxes was almost identical to the box Real Truck/Bakflip uses to ship the cover and the Manager gave it to me. That saved about $40. After buying some packing materials I repacked the cover (not easy) and called Fedex. As soon as Real Truck was notified that FedEx was scheduled to pick up the cover, the credited my credit card. Very nice.
I purchased a Lomax Stand cover form Agricover for about the same price and I have had much better results.
I don't believe that the Bakflip is necessarily a bad product. I just think it does not fit the Maverick well at all. The Lomax is much more difficult to install
but without going into great detail, that is actually a good thing as the Lomax method seals the cover to the bed much better.
