My wife and I both ordered Mavericks from Envision Ford of Oxnard back in September 2022. An XL Ecoboost for me and an XL Hybrid for my lady. We had agreed on paying MSRP for both vehicles when we were placing our pre-orders and I have a signed document to show for that. But when the order banks opened they told us that we had to sign a document stating the price was TBD or else they wouldn't place our orders. With all the craziness going on with the order banks that week I wasn't sure we would be able to get our orders in with another dealership so I panicked and we signed their price TBD agreement. I know stupid of me. The Ecoboost I ordered was delivered in May. They slapped a paint protection product called SurfaceCARE on the truck before they even called me to tell me the vehicle had been delivered. They tried charging us $1500 for the SurfaceCARE which we eventually negotiated down to $900. Pretty ticked off about it but they were ready and hoping we would walk away from the truck so we had to bite the bullet and cough up an extra $900. I found an old post here on Maverick Truck Club of another customer that got screwed over last year by Envision Ford of Oxnards SurfaceCARE scam.

Moving on to my wife's order. The Hybrid Maverick order status just changed to shipped about a week ago. Today the Sales rep from the dealership gave me a call saying that his sales manager decided to mark up all Mavericks orders by 3k. The reasoning he provided was that the vehicle is in high demand and they can sell it for more. My response was "No shit, that's why we ordered our trucks 10 months ago so we wouldn't have to deal with markups." I told the sales rep they're going to get a lot of shitty reviews that will hurt their business and he said that they already have shitty reviews and their business is doing great. The nerve of these people.

I don't think we have any negotiation leverage with these guys if writing shitty reviews of their business isn't getting us anywhere. Maybe we should call out the sales rep by name in the reviews and then he'll actually try to do something about it?

Is there a list of dealerships to avoid? If there is such a list I need to add Envision Ford of Oxnard.

Over on Reddit, you can add it to the dealer integrity map, if it's not already there. Also leave shitty reviews on Google, for each Google account that you have access to.

There is a website called Dealer Rater and also try Yelp. I used both when my order got “purged” somehow after several attempts to coax the dealer to check into why I hadn’t heard from Ford confirming the order. I left negative reviews and a couple days later the sales manager contacted me regarding my reviews and offered another order that was abandoned to be modified to my specifications. I am since now scheduled and the dealer has been great. Sounds like your dealer is a sleaze. You need to escalate.

Avoid envision like the plague. I worked at a family owned Mercedes dealer, 50 years in the family. The owner dad not want to sell until they offered $635 million! Then when they came in what a shitshow! I looked at their offer and retired the next day. End result 99 people out of 350 walked on the spot. Rookies and wannabes. So sorry you were screwed by them but that’s who they are...RUN AWAY!!! Sham bait and switch

@ThatGuy92
I maintain the list of dealers that are recommended as well as those with a warning. Please submit a summary of this via this Google Form and I will place a warning next to this dealer on the list.

Here is the cumulative list I maintain (since several replies have mentioned it).

I'm in San Diego. I think the only thing you can do is file a complaint with Ford and I am unsure as how to go about that. It may affect how Ford interacts with that dealer in the future. Dealers are an independent business and once Ford sells them the vehicle, they are free to price it. There has been a lot of this type of behavior in SoCal. This is my first Ford EVER and I am less than impressed with the three Ford dealers I interacted with. My local dealer has 9 Mavs as of today and the EB's are priced $6k above msrp and the hybrids $9k above. My story: I purchased my 2.0 EB off the lot in Riverside CA for $1800 above msrp which was great back in Oct 22. I ordered a '23 when the order bank opened in Sept 22 but realized it may not arrive within the span of my lifetime so I went into the wild as described. The $1800 was for small crap the dealer added including redundant remote start which the Lariat already has. I think their remote start is designed for them in case they reposses the vehicle [I paid for mine outright]. Anyway, I am sorry what should be an exciting experience turned sour for you. Chrysler dealers did pretty much the same thing when the PT Cruisers came out in 2000/01. Diamler- Chrysler did what Ford is doing - removed content and increased prices each model year.

We have tons of dealers around here but can any can be trusted? I want to find a good dealer in So Cal but I may go out of state for the next car purchase.

Do you (or wife) have a lot of time?

Can you "camp" out with a lawn chair and umbrella on the public sidewalk or drive / entrance with a picket sign? After an hour or two or three it won't be fun / funny for them anymore. Bet they sell at MSRP to make you go away.

You can even get satisfaction by warning others on the way in. Scare away other buyers.
