I love it when articles state: "Sources tell us"...

...and then site no actual sources.

Big Pharma vibes in media journalism anyone? "Doctors recommend it"...

I don't doubt it's possibility, but if they are going to follow suite in the "80% similar parts", what is the liklihood of any different drivetrain at all? It will likely be a high output version of the current 2.0, tuned a bit more on the top end for HP.

I'd keep my expectations optimistically low and be impressed with anything resembling a first generation Focus ST in comparison to current models like the Tremor. Keep in mind, they had the nerve to label that one an SVT...

For 2023, the Ford Maverick Tremor Off-Road package became optional for those looking for a bit more off-road capability than what was offered by the FX4 package, and now, sources tell Ford Authority that a street-oriented performance variant is on the way as well.

Unfortunately, our sources did not fully outline what to expect from this particular variant, but they did say it will feature a lowered suspension and big wheels, and that it will “sit low.” The big question about any type of street performance-oriented Ford Maverick is whether or not it will boast any type of powertrain upgrade or new engine choice, but no information about that is available at this time.
This is going to sell hot if they offer it

To be fair, Ford does not know what Ford is doing. Use the Ford sync chat to ask a question and they know nothing lol.
