I got backed into by a Ford Transit Van :(

Its a sad day.. I got backed into in a parking lot by a ford transit van carrying a bunch of adults. Ford vs Ford crime here.. There was almost no damage to the transit van but my bumper did its job. I haven't taken a great look under the truck yet but I am a little worried as the exhaust is right there. My baby is no longer flawless on the other hand glad everyone was ok in the van, just chalking this one up to life happens. We will see what insurance says about the damage.

I can say that this one probably doesnt have unibody damage. As so many of these poor rear ender jobs have. Im really kinda bummed Ford didnt do the bed like the Jeep Comanches. One of the things about trucks is nobody really cares about getting rear ended. If the bed gets torn up you just straighten out and frame issues and find a new bed at any junkyard or upgrade to a flatbed or dump bed. Maybe when they do a full redesign later in the decade. They might have to to have a safe area for mounting batteries.

I have officially been without the Explorer I bought three months ago because of the software for the back-up camera on the 360-version is not working right in certain conditions maybe. Three months. It took my development team less time than that to implement a brand new database management system and we follow the rather pedestrian Waterfall SLDC method.

@Ford Motor Company's own recall points to ONE example in their recall notice where the bad camera software has resulted in an accident and that has put a three-month stop delivery on only new Explorers. Yes, it only applies to new ones. The 200,000 used ones out there with bad software are free to keep driving and dealers are free to sell their used "dangerous" inventory.

However, I can point to many examples (this thread included) where having the camera doesn't appear to make a lick of difference whether someone backs into another vehicle or not. So, who's to say that one example in the recall wouldn't have happened anyway? So, what's the freaking deal, Ford?

Why am I still waiting on you to put together a software fix for a safety feature my trade-in didn't have that people apparently don't know how to use anyway with a stop-delivery that only applies to brand new vehicles when you have a quarter million vehicles out there with the same fault that are allowed to continue to drive?

Oh, and now my Maverick is apparently delayed at the factory too. If it is that damn back-up camera...
