Hey all-

I am a new Mav owner (1 week) but noticed my AC turns on every time I start my Mav. Is this an issue or does anyone experience this? I'll turn off the AC and notice when I start my car up later its on.

I am in SoCal and its been in the 60s so I don't think the temp should be affecting it. Even when I start my car in the garage in the morning, it'll still turn on.

Are you turning the climate control system off entirely, or just pressing the AC button?

I had a opened a similar thread about the AC and was instructed to select a blower direction option and not just the fan. I've done that an my AC doesn't come on automatically when starting and doesn't run even when it's off, so far. But if I had it on previously it will.

I have always recommended to my clients to leave the a/c on at all times. Just regulate the temperature as you wish. A/C on means your are keeping the refrigerant and lubricating oil circulating at all times and that is better for the system long term.

If you have a remote start and the setting for climate control is on. Then the truck will try to reach 72 degrees on its own.

When the Auto light is on, it can turn AC back on at any time. When it's off, as shown above, it's not in automatic mode. Selecting your desired vents takes it off Auto. That's why it will leave AC off but fans on for you, if that's what you're looking for.

Yes and no.

Yes that's how it's expected to work.
No, that's not how it works in at least more than a few Mavericks.

A bunch have auto lamp extinguished and air conditioning running.

P.S. don't feel bad. Once or twice I got caught up in "Mine works like this so all must work like this" only to later find out there are variants out there.

Wellllll yeah everything can act up from time to time... Doesn't mean that's the way it works, it means that's the way it doesn't really work (properly).

I am an advisor for a European luxury brand.
Brand of cars?

Air conditioner compressors are made these days to AUTOMATICALLY cycle the compressor a few turns every startup of the vehicle for lubrication. The owner does not need to remember to do anything. Just use it when they want, shut it all off when they want. You can pass this along to your clients. They'd probably appreciate the peace of mind. I am only familiar with "American" cars, but I suspect all would do this, especially anything branded as "luxury".
