You could be the very last Lariat Hybrid ordered, and still get built before someone else's XL if Ford chooses to build more Lariats the week your dealer's allocation comes up...
I think people overlook this. Allocation is king, but it is also what Ford is looking for when that allocation comes up. You could be otherwise next in line, but if Ford isn't looking for what you have, they will skip it to grab an order that matches what they are looking for.

But that still eats that dealership's allocation. Meaning that if that dealership never gets another allocation, your truck never gets built because a truck that more matched what Ford was looking for that week was selected over yours.

Every truck built for a dealership is one less opportunity for your order to be selected. If you want a Maverick and aren't scheduled when MY24 order banks open, go order a MY24.

My salesman called me up today and recommended I consider another Ford.

I told him I wasn't interested in another Ford. He yammered on about Broncos and Sports, then tried to talk about Rangers. I interrupted him at this point and told him if I wanted one of those, I'd have ordered one of those or gone to a lot and bought one rotting in the front.

He basically said he doesn't think there's a chance in hell I'm getting anything this year, and at best will roll my order into next year, but even then said he has his doubts based on my load out I'll see anything. I told him I took nearly every feature off the truck and he basically shifted the topic to getting something else.

They re-mentioned how they "gave me a shot" at getting that XLT I posted about prior for 40k. I told them that wasn't really giving me a shot that made any damned sense. He said he'd be in touch, but to think about it and hung up.

1. Yes, this dealer is F****ed 2. I'm worried at best I'm going to have to switch dealers and start over in July/June (can't remember when 24 orders start...) and then forgo any rollover better priority code?

This is twice this month with this place. Couple that with the missing dear John emails from Ford, just to start way late.

What was the point in bothering me like this. Just miffed...
Hey Daz,
It depends on how bad you need a vehicle. I live in Phx and have good experience with a few Ford Dealers here. PM me and I could give you some suggestions. I saw one on Caraigslist the other day that the guy only wanted $1k over what he paid only had 1300miles. I'm sure its probably gone by now, but they do pop up every now and then. If I were you, I would place an order at a larger dealership in the Phoenix area. I plan on doing the same if my Hybrid does not get built this year.
Good Luck!

Call or Chat with the Ford Customer service to check on the status of your order. There is a non-zero chance that your Maverick has been scheduled and the dealership is trying to get you to buy something else so they can say that you abandoned your order.

The Ford ordering process is a mess. I would suggest putting in several orders at several different dealerships as long as there is only a modest refundable deposit. There are lots of threads on this and at least to me if you cancel any other orders after you get your Maverick there is nothing unethical about it.

This mandatory requirement:
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...r-all-retail-orders-by-6-2.32034/#post-582326

this will invalidate a mess of orders by June5th.... Then Ford will know what's left... Then perhaps they will start issuing the dear John letters to those that do have valid covp, but no reasonable chance of being filled... we'll see... who knows?

I'm just ready to go for 7/17 for a MY2024 order.. no dealer installable options... but very well equipped with things that can only be done at build in the factory (eb, awd, sunroof, 4ktow, lux, slide window, etc.)

So glad I got scheduled. At the same time, feel horrible for those who are unscheduled. Especially those that are working with sleazerships. Note to those unfortunate ones, the switch to 2024 is also the chance to switch to a solid dealership. FWIW, Mullinax Ford in Apopka, FL has been great for me including getting our hybrid XLT switched to a Lariat EB. We were referred there by my daughter's future grandpa in law.

Get ahead of it though. Call your current dealer, make sure your order is approved in the COVP system. And if your dealer sucks, start looking for a good one now. Find one that doesn't require the add-on of dealer profit items like paint coatings or interior coatings. Use discernment when reading reviews. There's a thread on this site I believe of good dealerships. Reward the good ones with more orders. Dump the bad ones.

I was told that my dealership should get all of its allocations, stupid me didn’t ask what the allocations Vs orders comparison was.

My friend there aren't rollovers. Get your deposit back and start asking around other dealers about their orders vs allocations and bite on the best ratio?
Reorders not rollovers

It is unethical to put in ghost orders because it causes others to lose a chance. If several schedule the same time the dealers will take them and mark them up. If you don't want to play the game fairly then don't play the game.

Ford dealer just contacted me again.

They’re saying I need to sign an agreement to buy the Maverick in order for them to proceed. Something about them having a batch of 30 or so mavericks coming up. Ford has been on their back sides cause people keep canceling their orders (after they’re submitted? I was a bit confused on this point tbh) and/or after test drive. Told me they can only do this so many times before losing their ability to order more vehicles.

Told him I’d do no such thing. That I submitted my order last year and that should be enough. He then said “we’ll then at least sign the invoice. I’ll email it to you tonight”. Despite their promises to the contrary, my invoice came in with ….a number of additions. Plus the base price has increased by about a grand since the “locked in, we promise” base price (before taxes etc).

My 23kish grand truck is now a few dollars shy of 30k freakin bucks.

I fear I’m being bullied out of my order. Unless I’m wrong I think at best I will have to try again July, elsewhere.

I’m angry and besides myself and frankly don’t know what to do. I’m not agreeing to the added costs and I’m most certainly not agreeing to buy it sight unseen and without a test drive.Never had the ability to sit in one, so who knows, could hate it.

My Honda is looking more permanent with each day. This process, from both Ford and the dealer has been enough to nearly send me to drink.

Mavs don't come "in batches".

You could try going in and talking with the sales manager or whoever. Sounds like they DO want you to take the truck, they DO need to keep more original orders going and maybe they're screwed too many over who walked.

DON'T sign anything you don't want to- don't get sucked into the "have to have it" feeling.

They aren’t ghost orders. He’s trying to buy a truck from an ethical dealership.
