On a 2023 Lariat. Had the vehicle for a few months. I have tried multiple times to connect to our home WIFI network. The vehicle finds the network easily. The signal is strong. But, it will not accept the WIFI password.

The password is the original WIFI password supplied by the modem manufacturer. I have tried the password out on other devices and it works just fine. It is a long password but really doesn't have any special characters beyond a "dot" or "period" occurring three times in it. The rest is just lower-case letters.

While on the subject is there a way for the Maverick to "Show" the password in its entirety when typing it in?

It is a T-Mobile Arcadyn KVD21 Gateway. Had it about one year. It is lightning fast with virtually no dropped signals, lag or difficulty logging in. I have five other devices using the same password. Only two devices were using the WIFI this morning when I tried to log in from the vehicle.

Just skimmed through the device information here: https://www.t-mobile.com/support/tutorials/device/t-mobile/arcadyan-kvd21-gateway
It's scant on technical details unfortunately.

I would try to connect the vehicle to any other network just to make sure it's not a problem with the chip in the truck. You could set up a mobile hotspot on your phone and see if the car can connect. (Ideally a phone that doesn't use T-mobile but work with what you've got.)

If you can't connect to any networks from the Maverick, I'd reach out to the dealer. If you (or the dealer) can connect to at least one other network, I'd reach out to T-mobile. There may some weird kind of configuration setting that's not easily accessed which could be causing an issue.

Can you set up a guest login with your router? If so, try this. Create the guest with a simple alpha numeric password. Only activate it during your Maverick update.

I drove over to the Ford Dealer and was able to connect to their Guest WIFI. I checked for updates there. I have the latest update. Came home and figured out how to add a second network to my modem (it allows me to have at least 11 networks on the modem). I gave the new network a simple password with no special characters. It connected right away.

My guess is that the vehicle, either doesn't like special characters or, I input the password incorrectly multiple times.

I encourage Ford to consider putting a "Show Password" option on the log in screen for people who have long involved passwords.

Thanks everyone for the advice.

Thanks so much for updating with these results. Will definitely help others who have wifi difficulty in the future. Glad you got it resolved!

My opinion after an entire career in IT:

The very first thing you should do when you install a home Wi-Fi system is to change the "Name" of your router's Wi-Fi network. If it follows a "standard" naming convention, a hacker can tell just by seeing your network name exactly what type of equipment you're using, and that makes it easier to focus on any weaknesses that particular device may have.

The next thing is to change the default password for that Wi-Fi network so you're not using the one the factory provided. Some routers use the same password (or very limited number of "rotating" passwords) for their factory settings.

With default network names (previous paragraph) and default factory passwords, a hacker may be able to gain access to your network from their car on your street in a matter of minutes. Make his/her job harder, and they will move on to the next house. It's not about making it hacker-proof (can't be done). Just making your network more work for them than the guy next door's...

Oh yeah... Don't use the long passphrase "Stay the hell off my network." as your password. Believe it or not, it is VERY common, and if the hacker sees the password is lengthy, they will likely guess it within a few tries.

My current Ford Ecosport wouldn't either. I went to friend's house were we got the wifi router 20 feet from car. Connected but super slow. Waste of time for an update. I did it on computer to a flash drive . Worked like a charm. Download was a few minutes on FIOS at home and update to car was maybe 5 minutes.

Mine will say it can't connect. Then, about 3/4 of the way through re-entering the password, it connects.

Do you have an Android phone?
If so you can connect your phone to your home Wi-Fi, then create a hotspot with your phone and not even use a password, then try to connect your truck to it.

Apple does not let you do this with iPhones, share a Wi-Fi connection over your phone's hotspot that is.

I'm pretty sure that at least SOME Android phones don't allow this either... I believe the carrier makes the final call on "tethering" like that when they tweak Android OS for their purposes.

AT&T used to not allow hot-spots at all. Then they started allowing it on some plans but not others. It's been a while since I switched to T-Mobile (who lets you do pretty much anything the native Android build will do).

May be. I mostly use Pixel, Motorola, and LG(RIP) phones. They all allow this as far as I know.
I have an unactivated LG G6 and several Motos(Ace 5g,Z3 play)that I've used for this purpose.
My activated ones, Pixel 6 Pro and OnePlus 9, on Sprint/ T-Mobile, have worked as well. Though I usually OEM unlock them fairly quickly.
