Cheaper alternative Bed caps?

When I ordered my Maverick, I refused to pay the $3800 for a bed cap, has anyone found a better cheaper alternative?

I found one for $4028 tax included? It is better than the Leer one too. I ordered a ARE MX with roof rails, 4 interior (light duty) cargo hooks, a drivers side windoor, and drop down and sliding front glass, and a tri coat of HPR to match my truck.

Better & cheaper rarely go together. Hard caps are expensive and even the little baby ones for the Maverick are no exception. I don't think I've seen one much below $3k if memory serves

If I would clean my garage out and make mine and make all the jigs in three trys each, I could turn out maybe groups of five or six. After three groups I would be ready to quit! Would have to make rough material list and mentally build one to guess price but hope no more than $2750. First one and jigs could take about as much as labor and material as three production ones..

that’s a lot of money

New topper have always been expensive. You must be used to the old days when there was only about 5 different sizes and you could get em slightly used for $250. Now they are all custom fitted and nicer than they ever were.

I got a cab high ARE for $2100. I like it.

Paid for a SnugTop when I bought the truck but furd couldn't deliver so cancelled the order and got a basic ARE top for about $2200, saving $1400, I took it to the dealership to show my salesman, hence the dealer picture b

What is the bed-to-roof height on this one?

Short as it is flush with the roof of the cab but a 4" wide strip of RV Repair Tape seals the gap and eliminated the wind noise. Don't think I could sit up in it.

35 inches from bed to underside of roof, I bought it at Cap World in Sanford FL

They have dealers (Cap World)around the country, I got the basic cap, it's all I need for keeping stuff secure, if I wanted carpet and lights it could have been a couple of grand more. This is possibly the last vehicle I'll own so I'll upgrade as my needs change.
