Laugh all you want but there are Santa Cruz's by me going for a few grand off sticker. I am in the Chicagoland area. I went to look because my car got totaled. Special financing at 3.9% and 1-3 grand off sticker. Trust me, I got phone calls for 2 weeks to come back and lets make a deal. Plenty of other commodity vehicles are going for under sticker. Unless you are totally locked in on the Maverick, there are other options.
So you found a second clown car?
Good for you.

There are other hybrid trucks available without a markup right now? Please show me where. Why would anyone by a car they don’t want to drive unless it’s a teenager getting their first car or someone who can only afford a beater?
I didn't remember speaking specifically about a hybrid, I was talking Maverick in general.

Well there’s a big difference in the market price between an EB and hybrid. Let’s talk apples to apples here.

Why is everyone still talking about paying over MSRP? This has already been beaten to death, don’t you think?

It’s all a personal choice if someone wants to or not, and it shouldn’t matter to anyone else but the person who chose to, or chose not to. It’s no one else’s business!

It’s just that simple.

Hybrids are a different animal, that's for sure. At MSRP, they make sense if you are looking to save money on gas. However, by paying over sticker aren't you negating any gas savings?

I'm for certain not the demographic for a hybrid as I wouldn't like paying more than MSRP for a vehicle that gets better MPG but has worse everyday performance and no AWD. To each their own. Like I said, earlier people are going to do what they want to do and that's ok.

I paid $5K over MSRP for my XLT BAP AWD EB. I havnt looked back once. Owned since March 3rd and already have 6300 miles on it...ALL smiles. Why? I could afford to and the truck is worth MORE than what I paid for it hands down. Its simply amazing AND fits my lifestyle more than better than I could have expected.

I am going to order one too. Why? I am missing a few options like the tow package, sunroof, and inverters like I would have wanted.

I don't think this will last much longer. Consider that the bronco sport is made at the same plant and are selling at discount to msrp and also saw 0% apr. Plus third shift coming next month.

I'm 71 years old and MSRP has always been the target for me. Some years ago, you could still buy for less than MSRP. It's a free world, but I'm not going to participate in the $5,000 to $10,000 over! No wonder inflation is out of control.
My first truck was a 2018 Ford F-150 XLT, I was 61 years old. The sticker was $52K, I paid $38K, had $2K in special discounts. Bought the truck at the local dealership from the wife of a guy I worked with. Don't know if she gave me any extra deals, but that was more common paying less than MSRP. My 2022 Maverick I paid MSRP, but am happy with it and the 46 MPG I have been averaging the first six months of owning it. 75 MPG is the best I have gotten so far.

If I am going to spend close to 40 K for a truck it will be a Tacoma SR5.

It's all my fault. I am the one responsible for the inflation and high prices.
I am 73, have had two cancers and I can afford whatever vehicle I want, Porsche, audi, etc.
I also like the idea of not using gasoline and think hybrids are great.
I don't know how long I have left on the planet, so sorry to be so arrogant, but I feel no remorse for paying $6 K over on a Lariat since I was flat on my back and did not even know about the Maverick when Ford first opened up pre ordering. It's all my fault. Pile on.

I know everyone who buys one in Hawaii is paying no less that $3000 over msrp. No other choice. Unless you are like me and buy from Granger in Iowa. Im paying $29,620 for my XLT Tremor. It will cost us $2200 to ship it home after we drive it from the coast. But we got a $650 coupon for that. We will also spend about $600 in fuel getting it to the coast. There is the airfare for 2 and hotels, but we are getting a vacation out of that so I wont count it. So our actual savings under msrp is gonna be about $850. Not too bad all considered.

People are going are going to buy what they want and rationalize it to make them feel better about it. No big deal, people just being people.

It's a waste of money but some want it bad enough to pay it. Trust me, nobody is going to die if they don't get a Maverick. There are plenty of vehicles without a mark up. They want it and want it now. That's really all there is to it.
Please share with us your "plentiful" list of of hybrid small pickups under $40K. We'll be right here waiting. (But not holding our breath...)
