Ordered today with 3 to 4 month wait time, shortly after I get a message from the dealer saying, government has not approved the hybrid and it will be at least 7 months.

It will not be 7 months, I would imagine hybrids getting OKTB in October sometime.

There is some truth to what is being said about government approval, how much the dealer has right is left to be seen. You can't build a shed in your backyard in most municipalities unless you get government approval. Building a house can be a permit nightmare with the incumbent inspections. Elon Musk had to jump through hoops. Some foreign cars can not be brought into the country, some foreign makers will not bring them in because of the government red tape. Anyone remember the ELIO, not all of their issues were governmental but there is more government involvement than most people realize.

Well even if it was approved tomorrow it could easily be 7 months you figure about 10k retail this year then if they go up to 8k a month from January on it would be basically 7 months from now to get to 40k built and there may be more than that ordered and they may make less than 8k a month into spring.

::sigh:: The Maverick hybrid system is the same on as in the Ford Escape, so it is already "approved" by the government. So there's that..
Not exactly the same setup and it still has to get its own EPA approval.

As far as I know only built, none shipped. Most assume they are staying in the build phase till they get EPA approval.
I have my information from the Brand Manager and Ford Marketing Team. They still say hybrids will be delivered in the Fall. Any delivery by mid December would make that statement true.

So what about the big "Not for Sale" stamp across the sticker?

How are we to know what's original and what's your editorial statement? This makes your post very confusing. I appreciate creative commentary, but you can't be The Onion and The New York Times at the same time.

Well those two can be easily confused some days with what they publish as news. The hybrid stickers that have been posted all have not for sale in red across them.

Why is this a discussion. This is a pretty well documented issue.

However, it is NOT a “omg the government is holding us back” nor a “omg hybrids are broken” issue…

It just a simple procedural issue: The EPA must give accurate assessments of emission standards and MPG figures. Its a new vehicle…there is a process…trust the process. They’re making the vehicles, they just can’t sell them quite yet…but that could change in a week or even a day as soon as the EPA finalizes its assessment.

7 month time-table — that might be true…but that’s not an issue with the government...thats a production constraint issue, which, itself, is well documented.

Some of us have been waiting since June/July — so welcome to the fun.

This is the first hybrid sticker I've seen posted. I only spend 10 hours/day on this forum...so I'm bound to miss some things.
