lol that's it?

That's exactly what I thought! Somebody will rear-end me and I'll get a new tailgate. lolyeah that's the thing, isn't it...you know it is there. But sort of like a home project, the biggest critic is typically yourself despite something that nobody else would ever notice. On the potential bright side maybe somebody will eventually rear end your truck and you'll get a new tailgate. So something to ....eh...well...look forward to.
Ouch...I've had mine for a month.Count me in as having the same beauty mark from a ratchet when installing my tonneau cover. 2nd day I had the truck.
Be careful what you wish for.... Tailgates are probable back ordered for a year. Would the tailgate damper piston preclude that? That's exactly what I thought! Somebody will rear-end me and I'll get a new tailgate. lol
Yeah...damage is so minor that I don't really care anymore. I might put this on to cover it.Be careful what you wish for.... Tailgates are probable back ordered for a year. Would the tailgate damper piston preclude that?
Well my F 150 that was trading in for my Mav got year ended. I ended up getting a new bumper and hitch. The hitch was pretty rusty so the truck looked much better. Tho it did show on the carfax.yeah that's the thing, isn't it...you know it is there. I had about the same result when I was installing the tailgate dampener. I accidentally left the tailgate cable draped over the side of the tailgate when I closed it. That left a small dent just to the left of the hybrid logo alongside the tailgate.I was installing my soft roll up cover this afternoon. I had a tape measure to check I had equal length on side rails. Well, I put the tape measure on the bumper and opened the tailgate onto it. Got to small dents from tape measure belt clip. Hard to see unless you’re at an angle and minor paint damage, but I still know they are there. Could’ve been worse I guess.
I then thought I’ll take off the tailgate cover and try to smack them out from inside, but there is a brace that prevents me from getting to bottom of the tailgate where the dents are.

Edit: Here’s a better pic. There are two small impressions. Kind of hard to see except at specific angles.

Two variations. The "I forgot to take the wrench off when I put my hitch ball on", and the "I left a wrench on my bumper".Don’t leave a tape measure on bumper…
That reminds me of a photo I saw somewhere. Somebody had welded a large plumbers wrench to the top of their pickup tailgate/sidewall like they had forgotten and left it there.
It was where any car behind you could see it.
Ever since they welded the wrench to their pickup they have had no problems with anyone tailgating them.
With the posts with photos of Mavericks which have been totaled by being rear ended I will be tempted to do the same when I get my Maverick
DO YOU HAVE A PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR SHOP ?I was installing my soft roll up cover this afternoon. I had a tape measure to check I had equal length on side rails. Well, I put the tape measure on the bumper and opened the tailgate onto it. Got to small dents from tape measure belt clip. Sounds like something I also would do except now I am warned..I was installing my soft roll up cover this afternoon. I had a tape measure to check I had equal length on side rails. When reading this I was expecting a box wrench or open-end wrench. So, it didn't go off without a hitch? Two variations. The "I forgot to take the wrench off when I put my hitch ball on", and the "I left a wrench on my bumper".

A paintless (PDR) guy can get those out probably perfectly.I was installing my soft roll up cover this afternoon. I had a tape measure to check I had equal length on side rails. And don't forget the two way words, Curt Gowdy can say, "he has two balls on him", but he can't say "I think he hurt his balls on that play"I still lmfao after some 45 years! Timeless bit! Thanks, I needed a laugh today
