Canoes and ladders

I'm curious to see what kind of options for carrying things like canoes and ladders become available. My old '89 Toyota (6' bed) had a rack on the topper, which was nice. But I'm not sure whether I'll put a topper on my Maverick, since the bed is so short.

There are slots for a roof rack. A rack up front plus a hitch mount extender would work great. You could possibly build a rear rack frame out of wood or wood and pipe.

I would like to make a rack by myself. It will be fun. However, I am afraid that this kind of rack could be noisy on the highway.

Does anyone know if the Maverick will come with roof side rails or not?

I just put an extender into the hitch and hauled a 17’ canoe, keel down, in the bed. Plenty of tie down points in the bed.
