Ford Maverick Obligatory "My Tremor is Here!" post and first impressions tempImagehDECZV

Six months was long enough - I salute the folks with hybrid orders, or just receiving their First Editions, and their next-level patience.

24 hour first impressions:
  • Driving refinement - pretty damn good for a cheap truck. There is some wind, road, and especially engine noise, but it's not too bad.
  • Suspension - as others have pointed out, the Tremor suspension is impressive; well-tuned for the vehicle and definitely feels more planted than an FX4 setup I rode in.
  • Excellent design - the outside looks good and the interior has lots of cosmetic appeal, really nice flow, great use of space.
  • Some comically cheap finishing - while many important aspects like the door slam, overall seat comfort, and texture on some of the plastics are adequate to good, some of the little things are almost funny, like DIY projects gone sideways. Parts like the centre console interior mat, glove box, door lock latches, and steering column bellows are rough with a capital R. I drove a 2022 Escape for awhile and was impressed with its fit and finish - the Maverick is nowhere near that level.
  • Worst new-car smell ever. All VOC and no aroma. It's literally giving me a headache and I have to drive with windows open until it dissipates.
  • Character - nitpicks aside, it's basic, it's functional, and it's fun. Coming from a Volvo XC60 and BMW 5-series, hooning around with the buzzy ecoboost and pressing plastic buttons for everything gives me the same odd satisfaction as riding a V-twin motorcycle, or cleaning a tough trail on my hardtail bike instead of the fancy downhill rig.
List of Mods Being Completed:
  • ✅ Line-X and a Bak X4S tonneau
  • Cargo management rails and bed divider kit
  • ✅ Tailgate assist
  • ✅ Ecoboost engine cover
  • ✅ Thule Evo/Snowpack roof rack
  • Perimeter Plus and remote start kit
  • ✅ Dash trim for audio controls
  • ✅ Brodit wired phone mount
  • Stealth sound setup - Audison 9 channel DSP and amps, Morel Tempo speakers, Kicker 10” sub, RTA time and frequency correction
Shoutout to Coastal Ford Burnaby in Vancouver, BC. Put the order in properly, honored MSRP, very professional, good communication, and a super low pressure experience!

Legit write up- I need to get back to BC sometime- Anyways if you ever need to replace that windshield its way worth it to upgrade to the Acoustic unit. Someone else mentioned the rubber floor mats are what creates a lot of the new car funk- FYI

Thanks. I'm kinda-sorta-half-hoping-but-not-really for an excuse to put the Lariat windshield in. Good call on the floor mats, I'll pull them out to air them.

The sound glass windshield makes a big difference in interior ambient noise reduction, wind/engine/etc - Which bed divider kit you getting ? OEM Ford looks nice but $300- Someone mentioned an aftermarket unit that attaches to the cleats like the Ford unit but actually flips up and down as well which would be nice- Cant seem to find it...

I’m an audio guy so that soundglass would matter to me.

I ordered the Ford divider because an online dealer had it up here for the equivalent of US$250 which just sounds a bit more palatable even though it’s still spendy. I like that it integrates with the factory rails.

So glad to hear about the suspension. That sticker was actually a pretty big deal on there. Seems that those shocks are about as good as you can get from a standard OEM type shock. Not a Fox or King, definitely getting comparable to some Bilsteins though.

Nice review and it matches my initial impressions pretty closely from when I got my fx4. I actually like the spare & functional look of the interior. Gimme simple mechanical style controls for everything even if they are all electrical switches. Then again I think design for cabin controls peaked in the 90's but that's just me.

They are a little noisy/busy but it's far from being out of hand and the power/handling was a very pleasant surprise. Turning out of the dealer and hitting the gas certainly put a smile on my face.

It's a lot of truck for the money.

My only real beef with the interior is the shallow door pockets and the button panel location for hill descent control, etc.. My dog keeps stepping on those and turning them on at random times.

My feeling exactly. The last thing I drove was a rental 530i and while it was an exceptionally well built, comfortable and refined vehicle, it never really made me grin or feel like it was worth every $.

Driving the Tremor out of the dealer, on the other hand, 😎

First tiny mod done.

If you haven’t seen this little piece yet, it really does add a bit of polish to a part of the dash you stare at very often. Edit - link to Amazon if you didn't see the thread in the Interior Mods forum.

Do you think the orange cover color option would look cool with Tremor package? Or too much? I might order one now before they go out of stock even though my Lariat Tremor isn’t even scheduled yet haha.

I emailed them about doing the Tremor bronze/gold color. We shall see what happens.
