So hear me out. I rarely have someone in the rear center. To the point of can't remember the last time I've had a passenger there. But I roll the windows down a lot right now with nice weather in Houston.

When driving with the rear windows down, I find the rear center seat belt which stays stretched across the seat back flaps and makes a slapping sound. Not constant, but not uncommon either.

Am i missing a way to disconnect and retract it? Obviously I could disassemble it, but not sure I want that effort. But it would be nice to unclip it. If not I may put padding on it. My son said to ignore it. 15 year old is getting wise in his old age... But I'm struggling to do that.

To remove it, it has to be cut.

Can you tie a small rope to something behind the seat and over the belt to pull it behind the seat? Then it won't have the air space between it and the back wall to start flapping. In other words, it would be tucked behind the seat then come back over against the seat.

Have you tried connecting it? (Like someone was sitting there…. but isn’t.)

Have no idea if that would work, but worth a try.

Modern vehicles are not meant to be driven with the windows open. Causes wind buffeting that bothers many people's ears. Wind tunnel aerodynamic testing to reduce drag and improve MPG is the driver for this.

Thanks for the feedback all. Buffeting isn't an issue with the power rear window and sun roof. Between me having my dog in the back a lot and just enjoying the air I have the windows down frequently. I think next step will be tucking or tying the belt, then padding if needed.

SOUND ADVICE FROM YOUR 15 YEAR OLD! DOES HE TAKE AFTER YOUR WIFE? SERIOUSLY, MAYBE SOME SELF STICK VELCRO COULD STOP THE SLAPPING.

More do as I say not as I do... After 18 years I have learned my wife has no "ignore" in her!

As a fellow Houstonian, y’all are crazy for cruising with your windows down. If the humidity doesn’t kill you, the road debris will.

What are you talking about? We have two solid weeks a year for window down weather!
