The tailgate would be the most visible. The bumper would be a good comprise between visibility and aesthetic appearance.

Well, two things. First of all, if it were my wife and they made it, would have to be Purple LOL. Second, I think any of it would be visible. I was just behind a bicycle the other night and the yellow stood out.

According to a google search:

You can paste reflective tape on your car to enhance the visibility of your vehicle, especially for the frame side of the car.
Although it is not illegal to put reflective tape on your car, there are some positions are not allowed to stick the reflective tape.
For example, reflective tape on the window will affect the vision of drivers, showing red on the front of your vehicle or white on the back is also not allowed.

Use all the colors you have and wrap it completely around the truck and on all panels several times, that way you’ll be sure to be safe.

Please post pics of the finished product...

White on the back is allowed. We have the red and white reflective strips on the rear ICC bar of our trucks. I do believe red is not supposed to be on front though.

I can remember my dad doing that as far back as the 1960s and I have always done that on my cars. I have even gotten my son into doing that too.

I recall seeing a post awhile back where they had put reflective lettering into the indented "Maverick" that is on the tailgate so that could be a good place to put it to.
