Pretty sure the transporter left my new Maverick Hybrid on

Got my new Hybrid Maverick delivered to my house from my dealer (dealer is out of state). Upon arrival my Mav had 6 miles on the Odo and 3hr and 15 minutes of on time. I am thinking the transporter put the vehicle in park and forgot to shut off the key, forgetting it was a hybrid. Do you think this would have caused any issues on a new engine? I don't know exactly how this works, but I assume the vehicle probably intermittently started up the ICE motor during the 3 hour drive from time to time?

If this actually occurred it would only have started and stopped occasionally. Also consider that the factory might have been running tests on the engine too.

Definitely a possibility. From what you are saying though, not a big deal you think?

Very common for the vehicle to be "ON" for the entire time to bring it up to temp and watch for cooling and other points of interest to work properly. Then there is the time "idling" at all the ramps and loading docks. Do the math, how many miles from the dealer are you? If out of state that make take MORE than 3 hours of driving.
Nothing to worry about.

It would have taken 8 hours to drive it home from the dealer. Certainly was not concerned about the overall time, just overall time at idle during the break in period of a motor. This is also my first hybrid vehicle so I was not sure how it would have handled the key being on for that long from a stop/start ICE standpoint.

It would be just fine and cause no damage. All it would do is burn some gas, which Ford covered.

It's also possible that the truck was not left on by the transporter, but that the truck underwent factory testing, or was left on to check out during its pre-delivery inspection, neither of which are harmful.

I would say the "time" you listed is fairly standard. Idling used to be bad for gasoline engines. The Hybrid has sequential port injection ( not direct injection ) which would be better if one had to idle a lot. Cars for the last several decades simply do not have issues with idling as they don't dump fuel into the cylinders ( washes off the oil that lubes piston and rings ) like the carbureted engines did.
Engines are so well machined that there is almost no break in required. No worries.

The clock is "key on" time, not engine on time.

I put 49.xxx hours on my first tank of gas, sitting in the driveway reading the manual, learning all the buttons, reading Maverick Truck Club, and so on.

Yep, as everyone else noted, this doesn't seem unreasonable. That's simply the entire time the key has been in the "Run" position. That 3.25 hours includes:

• Powering up the vehicle at the end of the assembly line
• Moving it around the staging lot(s) at the factory and onto a rail car
• Unloading, reloading at any stops along the way
• Unloading at the destination rail ramp, loading up onto a truck
• Unloading from the truck, staging at the dealer lot
• Moving around the dealership property for PDI, etc.
• Taking the vehicle to a nearby gas station to fill up the tank
• Any time spent idling to warm it up for you when you first went to see it

Sounds like a lot when you just see 3:15 but as you note, the mileage is very low. Being a hybrid, unless they were running climate for an extended duration, it likely wasn't even running the engine for very much total time anyway.

Bottom line, doesn't seem like anything to worry about here.

Lol, I got a hybrid just for its extended gas free idle. I have a ranch in that ‘requires’ me to be sitting in my truck most of the day ( normally Sundays) watching TV and/or radio far away from the generations of women in my family. We all need our wide open spaces and a hybrid can provide A/C and electricity for those ‘work’ days.
According to my trip meter my mph is at 20.

Makes perfect sense.

You can leave that guy running idle all weekend and come back to it Monday morning, there will be no issues. If you don't have AC, lights, etc, to drain the HV battery or heat on to require engine warmth then it can go a loooong long time between short engine runs to recharge the HVB.

This Professor John Kelly remarks that he has accidentally left priuses on all weekend in the vehicle lab, for example, and only realized that on Monday when one of the engines kicked on and startled him.
