Yes, insurance is taking care of it. So far they’ve actually been super easy to deal with.
It’s totally drivable. It barely looks damaged.
I’ll get some better pictures of the damage.
looking forward to more pics👍

I can't believe the driver told the police she was texting. I mean, good for being honest and all. But that may be a hefty ticket in a lot of jurisdictions on top of the damage. And depending on her insurance company and policy it could be an admission they use to not cover. She admitted that the cause of the accident was her breaking the law...

Wouldn't surprise me if her insurance comes after her for reimbursement, especially if she has lower tier insurance (which the car she is driving indicates she may).

Has this been fixed yet, how did they go about fixing the rear rails?

It looks like I’ll be waiting on parts for a while. I’ll update when I have more information.
I was informed they would be replacing the driver side rail that is tweaked. Honestly, I’m not too confident in that entire process. 😑

Take the tailgate off before going to body shop, or have them save it for yiu. Would make a great back for a bench, or as a wall hanger in the garage

Yeah, not sure how they are gonna go about it. I looked under there when I got mine. Didn't look like an easy task. I'm 20+year bodyman, that's why I asked. I guess you're out are driving it till parts have a eta?

Mine took a hit the first week I got it in front, nothing major so I had it fixed in 3days. Month later and now all the lower textured plastics are color matched.

Yeah, I’m still driving it. It drives fine. I’m having the Ford dealer fix it. Hopefully they don’t jack it up. 😅

I mean, accidents are shitty situations for everyone involved, but if this woman fessed up to her fault, then I can respect her for having the proverbial balls to admit her fuckup, and I might even give her a ride home or something, since her car is not going to drive, and the truck probably drove away.

Honesty in situations like these is not guaranteed, and I think that it should be rewarded.

No, I get it. I'm not saying she should have lied. But you can say "I looked away didn't see them stop" without owning you committed a traffic violation with a pretty hefty fine in most places.

I feel like I should be rewarded since my brand new truck will forever have an accident attached to its history.

Many years ago a young lady ran into my fairly new vehicle. I went to 3 different dealers used car dept and got them to put in writing how it negatively affected the value of the vehicle. They were all pretty close to same amount. The insurance company wrote me a check along with repairing my vehicle completely. I would suggest pursuing that process.
