If you wanted a hybrid and were paying attention at all you knew you were entering a lottery and you might or might not get one. If you paid a deposit you chose to do that and I would think you could get it back. If you didn't want to enter the lottery then you had zero chance unless you buy one used or off a lot at a dealer markup. Pretty clear.

Or 3.9/60 months financing then "oops we can't build your truck, hope you can afford 7%!"

According to Lexus, the hybrid costs more to produce than the ICE version - in 2021 when I bought my Lexus Hybrid the ICE model which was identical on the outside was approx 3K less than my hybrid. I believe the ICE Maverick vs the Hybrid ( both 2wd) that the Hybrid has a higher cost to manufacture. Blue Oval Bean counters determined that it would first benefit Ford to sell Eco boosts at the same price as the hybrid then said - wait a minute - we need to "constrain" the hybrid especially the XL due to profit margins and let people switch to ICE . While Ford may blame it on "supply chain blah blah blah" its really more about profit margins. How in the world could someone make the argument - the XL is constrained but the XLT is not ......... its all about profit boys and girls.

It's a minor thing, but I am glad I got mine before that mess started happening!

Ford wants to build every truck they can sell and Ford has a list of people wanting to spend money on their trucks. There is and has been a global everything shortage. If Ford could make every single hybrid on their list today, they would immediately.

What am I missing here? I guess I did not read the memo that circulated a few days ago regarding engine change in order to have a better chance of getting it built. If I am correct, it appears a EB Lariat is about $2K more than a Hybrid Lariat. Is someone saying here people who ordered can switch to the EB for the same price as the Hybrid?
Yes you can, starting with the 2023 model year the up charge to an ecoboost was absorbed into the price increase for 2023.

Being a corporation they have a responsibility to their stockholders to maximize return on investment.

No.
- Its not bait and switch, that literally makes no sense.
- What evidence do you have that the hybrid is not profitable? The sticker on my Lariat says otherwise
- Anyone that didn't have their head in the sand knew they were struggling to meet hybrid demand at least a year ago
- Don't understand what an untenable option is? What are you talking about?
- "Ford stands to make a bundle"?? On what? Selling an ECOBoost instead of a hybrid?
Whatever the profitability of the EB vs Hybrid, whatever the reasons for not producing the vehicle, Ford is making a lot of buyers angry and losing millions in good will. Not necessarily Ford’s fault, but buyers don’t care.

Thank you for clarification. What I was going by is if you go to the 2023 build site and start from scratch, I can do a Lariat Hybrid with Luxury and CP pkg only, then do the same truck with an EB engine, and the bottom line price is about $2K more for the EB.

Ford says yes to dating, but wants a little more before following through.
You plan for burgers and beers, but Ford wants steaks and whisky sours.

So as I stated - why is XL models constrained and XLT not ? Ford wants to make every XL order that was placed ? Nope- they are bean counting because the "global everything shortage" argument only works if the XL had MORE parts and features not LESS.

I sure wish they would do that, my Ford stock is WAAAAYYYY under water right now hahahaha. I don't disagree at all - what I am saying is that it is not as much because of "supply chain issues" it is profitability results that determines what gets built and what is "constrained" .
