It's really rubbed me the wrong way over the past few months, since September ordering, to hear of folks who ordered a 2nd/3rd/4th truck and then deciding that they don't need/want/care to wait for it. I understand all the freedoms you have to do what you like, as you have, but this community could benefit from some better collective action and forethought.

I would like to ask, as politely as I can, that if you are one of these people and you have a hybrid MY23 on order that there is a most certain chance that you will not take delivery of - Please change your engine to Ecoboost as soon as possible!

The consequence of not doing so is irrelevant to you, however - the result of your inaction will be that the available hybrid powertrain that could have gone to someone here who is passionate and feverish to get a hold of one, goes in a truck which ends up on a dealer lot marked up to the moon. Although this may not sway the numbers significantly, every little counts when we are facing the 35% capacity of FHEV production.

Thank you for your time & Merry Christmas.

What about all the EB people who that will delay. If you don’t want the truck, cancel the order.
Dealers won't "cancel" the order. They'll keep it in your name and when it shows up, not call you because you told them you didn't care, and sell it themselves.

Not desperate, but noticed the pattern. There are many people here who could benefit from this.
It "really rubs me the wrong way" to see you whining after barely waiting for yours when people who ordered a year back have yet to get theirs.

I agree in principle... for everyone screaming that Ford is jumbling up the process there are a bunch of buyers gaming the the system or at least monkeying with their orders (and their speculative orders) at every chance. None of this helps the average end consumer. And like someone above mentioned, all those extra/abandoned orders give the dealers more units to churn into the market.

I understand where he is coming from. I've waited almost 14 months, had a cancelled vin and have been rescheduled with a new vin, but the current new hybrid orders will have a less likely chance of getting scheduled than me if things stay like they are. At this point waiting may not be enough. The ratio of Eco to hybrid seems more lopsided this year. Anyway, that's just my take on it.

I am one of those with more than one on order. Ordered 4 to be exact.

Ordered what I really want.... a Lariat with cactus grey, hybrid, fully loaded other than sunroof and the bedliner and other bolt on's such as mud flaps or bed covers, and with the black appearance package.

Then ordered one that would satisfy me if its all I can get, which is a XLT with the lux package, hybrid and cactus grey and that's it.

Ordered the XLT as there is the possibility that Ford may find it easier to pick the XLT to assign for a build date over the Lariat.

Then decided to order two duplicate trucks from a different dealer, just in case there is a difference in allocations between the two dealers.

Yes it is very easy to see this move as a selfish move.

Yes it could potentially mean that Ford builds all 4 of the trucks I ordered vs building just one and then 3 other peoples trucks.

Reality is, this IS a selfish world. People look out for themselves first, others second. But saying that, I did strongly consider the approach of just ordering the Lariat I wanted and calling it good... But then I told myself.... I CAN buy all four trucks as they come in if I wanted to, and have no problem selling them to other people for my cost. I actually did that with the Ford F250 I ordered about a year ago.... Did the same thing, ordered the truck I wanted from one dealer then 2 weeks later as I worried about allocations decided to order a duplicate from another dealer. Turned out both trucks ended up built about the same time and I bought both, and kept the one that came first and sold the second one to a guy from Indiana who really needed a truck, and sold it to him for my cost plus a tiny bit more to cover my time.... verses letting the dealer have it to put a 10 grand mark up on.

And like I said in another thread, I feel pretty sure that by the time a good number of us who ordered 2023 trucks actually get them, the market will be different on these trucks and I don't think you will see the big mark ups on them.

With that being said, if that turns out to be true... There could be a situation where even if everyone that ordered more than one canceled their orders, There is still possibility that for example I could get one of the trucks I ordered and you ( the original poster ) never gets yours, just like so many people who ordered well over a year ago and never got theirs. But then in that case, If I keep my orders, and they build 2 of them, and I take one, now there will be another here locally that you could skip the line and go buy.

Look at that link.... There is over 4 pages of them for sale right now on Carvana. Plus however many at sitting at Ford dealers, other dealers, on auction sites, on FB marketplace etc.... I think if you sit back and watch, you will see that the prices on these will drop as demand falls. I think the days of big mark ups are going to end soon.

I understand. I ordered a single vehicle well over a year ago and that order did not make it for 22. Had to place a new 23 order in September and am still waiting to be selected for production. But I want the coveted Hybrid and there have been others that either understood the demand and placed multiple orders and/or are at dealerships with such a large number of allocations that even their "newer" orders have been built before mine. The queue each of us is in seems specific to region and dealership. So I too feel stuck. If I want to get one at this point, I have no choice but to pack my patience and wait. :(

I'm not a fan of people putting in multiple orders in the hope of getting one, but what is done is done. Even if they cancelled their duplicate orders, most dealerships probably won't. As for those people moving their orders to EB, why? The whole point of having a 3rd or 4th order is to get the truck they want. Once they have a truck, they likely won't care what the dealership does with their other orders and the dealership will likely be able to get stock EBs by this summer anyway. So, there is no incentive for them to move it over.

That said, I'm willing to bet the duplicate orders are the exception rather than the norm. Most consumers cannot afford to buy more than one vehicle and a lot of dealerships required a deposit with each order. I'd almost be willing to put the duplicates at 3-4% of the total orders, which is less than the number of people willing to jump to EB anyway and even that number would ultimately make little difference.

I agree that 6 to 9 months from now the vehicle market is going to look very different.

Be interesting to put up a poll and see how many people truthfully participate in it. I am sure there are quite a few people that ordered several trucks in the hopes that they can flip them for 5-10 grand profit when they come in. But in my opinion, by the time those trucks come in, I think the market will soften. If there is no profits to be made, those trucks will just be in dealer inventory.

Like I posted yesterday, my local dealer got a canceled order in on Wednesday and they were going to ask 5 grand over, and salesman told me they would for sure do 4 grand over. If I got in my car and drove straight there, I bet I could have got them down to 2-3 grand over pretty easily. Just a few months ago they would have gotten 5-10 grand over easy.

Pay attention to the postings, especially on FB.... People just aren't willing to give that much over, and prices will have to trend down to move those units.

That, plus I feel certain there are many buyers who already got their trucks who are coming to realize that a tiny cheap truck is not what they really want, and you will see more and more people unloading their trucks to buy cars or SUV's now that the new has wore off and they get the itch to get the next great thing.

That won't do anything just give the dealer full rights to sell it when it comes in. They won't cancel the order
