Can anyone help identify what these components on the underside of the maverick are for?

I bottomed out the other day and there is a rattling sound coming from underneath the cover right under the driver's seat now. I haven't had time to take off the cover and inspect what is broken yet, just trying to figure out what I'm dealing with first. The picture below is from a hybrid and I have an EB, so it may not look exactly the same as mine. I'm thinking it might be part of the EVAP system/charcoal canister?

I figured that a truck with an "off-road" package could handle popping a small curb but I guess not :cautious:.

Evaporative emissions canister.

That said I recall some EcoBoost owners were having issues with noises from the fuel lines vibrating together/against metalwork.

Thank you.

I guess it could be unrelated, but I didn't notice the sound until the day after. I'll take the cover off in the next couple of days and take a look.

That spot is covered by metal on my EB with FX4. Not sure which option they add it for.

Really? Mine has some useless fabric cover over that area. I tried looking for an aftermarket metal plate for the sides but found nothing.

It's under the felt. I'm unaware of any aftermarket Maverick skid plates.

Bronco Sport Badlands, Maverick Fx4 and most likely the Tremor have a metal cover for the evap.
All probably the same part number, good luck finding that number though

The thought of possibly having a cracked EVAP or fuel line had me worried so I rushed home to check it out. As others pointed out, there is a substantial steel cover over the EVAP canister so nothing was broken under there. The "fabric" or whatever that outer cover is made of was torn away from one of the mounting bolts in the subframe, so the bolt was now loose and the washer on it was rattling around causing the noise.

So it ended up being nothing important, phew. Might get a new cover if it gets damaged more but it doesn't seem worth $100.

Thanks for the help everyone. Here is a picture of the EVAP canister cover if anyone cares.

Duct tape won’t work. Have same issue, curb ripped the felt cover. Ordered a new one, agree it’s not worth $100. Hope aftermarket eventually makes a metal one.

In this regard demand precedes supply. Sport owners are just now getting some pieces from JCR Offroad after months of asking. Since the obvious similarities Maverick/Sport, it's certainly possible those pieces are a tweak away from fitting the Mav. They currently have 3 Sport under body skid plates, one a cat theft guard. Hit their web site, search Maverick to show interest.

I don't see a canister. Am I blind? Is it hidden?

It's underneath the steel cover in my second pic. The first pic has that steel cover removed.

Good call on those aftermarket skid plates, I'll keep an eye out there.
