Based on reports here from fall of ‘21 to present, the build quality has improved. There were initially problems with bad welds, windshields that snapped, interior parts and many others. These kinds of issues became less frequent through the spring of this year.

Other issues, such as the battery harness and others I can’t recall right now were resolved with re-engineered parts installed after a specific date.

So yes, build quality has improved during the ‘22 model year alone. More improvements will undoubtedly be made as time rolls along.

There‘s an unfortunate trope regarding build quality being promoted, but these people seem to be malcontents who can only cite one or two minor issues, which are to be expected to some extent in a new type of vehicle.

The vast majority of more recently built Mavericks seem to be very well built.
Well said.

Also, I'm in Vacaville, when the Norcal meet up lol!

My mid Sept 2022 Eco,XLT,alto blue,FX4 appears to be well put together. My only gripe is the super cheesy vinyl filler between the cluster and the steering collum. And the plastic piece above it is loose also_Once I adjusted the radio settings I am happy with it.I only have about 400 miles on it so far so time will tell.It does draw a lot of attention from people.

I'd be amazed if people got a 22 and a 23.
If they ever build my multiple pushed October 21 ordered XLT that is waiting for a 23 vin to replace the unbuilt 22 vin it had, I will also be amazed that I will have both years.

I know there was an issue with the hood shaking when driving on early build Mavericks. My Sept 2022 build date maverick doesn't have that issue.

The hood shake issue seemed to be mainly with those who had added a bug deflector.

Generally, second model year, the quality is better. Anyone noticed the quality difference between early 2022 to late 2022??? It would be an indicator that they have improved after running the line for a year.
The quality seems to be pretty solid for most of the trucks, especially ones built during the later half of the previous model year. Only issue I knew of was the wiring harness which appears to be addressed.

I don't have first hand experience but from the posts that I have read on here and on Reddit, Ford may have improved the sound system in the non-B&O stereos.

When the first Mavericks were arriving, the consensus was that the speakers were pretty much garbage. Lately, the posts regarding the speakers are that new owners are pleasant surprised and don't feel the need to upgrade them.

Too much data and science stuff here boys. Let's stick to anecdotes and random observations.

Who can ever forget the tragic wave of "windshields that snapped"?

I don't think you're going to see an improvement in build quality with anything from Ford unfortunately.
If you feel FORD quality is so bad why did you buy one? You bought the cheapest model (XL) and you are complaining? Don't like Ford, sell your XL. A quick check of you 2022 Honda CR-V is as follows;

2022 Honda CR-V User Complaints and Problems
Since 2017 itself, the CR-V lineup has found itself plagued by several persistent issues. Most of these chronic problems have pervaded electronic sensors and systems. Although there exist issues revolving around other technicalities of the car, the sensor issues have been predominant across every iteration spanning from 2017 until 2021. Apart from this, the Honda CR-V line has often seen issues varying from faulty injectors to oil dilution and malfunctioning of safety features. A few recurring problems with the fifith-generation CR-V lineup are as follows:
Mechanical Complaints
  • Breakage of the gear shift lever- Breaking of the gear shifting lever while driving has been a well-known problem for the 5th generation CR-V. As per the complaints registered, users have come across jamming of the gearbox and not being able to shift the car into parking mode, and ending up with a broken gear shift lever. This can be a trouble when the car is in drive mode since it does not allow the driver to shift to park mode nor can the driver turn off the engine. This can have serious consequences on the road.
  • Faulty Fuel injectors- For the complaints with IC Cluster malfunction, most dealerships have claimed the faulty fuel injectors to be the root cause for the issue. Also, there are a few complaints that mention the dilution of the oil leading to the sudden stalling of the 2022 CR-V engine. The issue can be a costly affair but is usually covered under warranty but nonetheless, sudden abrupt stalling of the car can possess a danger of crashing.
Electric System Complaints
  • IC Cluster Malfunction - a common and persistent complaint with the 5th generation of Honda CR-V introduced back in 2017 is IC Cluster malfunction. Consumers who have registered complaints have mentioned all of the vehicle status lights and indicators on the IC cluster turning on and then a sudden loss of power, loss of automatic braking, and loss of power steering too. Since these incidents have just happened to be without any signs, cause, or anticipation, it makes for a dangerous situation for the driver, vehicle occupants as well as other fellow motorists on the road. So it requires a timely fix. There have also been instances wherein honda dealerships have linked this with fuel injector issues.
  • Forward Collision Warning sensor malfunction - Collision warning system going rogue has been a common issue with several Honda lineup of vehicles even apart from the CR-V. The issue is that the sensors get activated even when there are no signs of obstruction or danger of impact ahead of the car but once the sensors get activated, the auto braking gets engaged, which can lead to serious crashes from the rear end. Honda Civic lineup has also been often linked to the same set of issues with a significant number of complaints.
  • Faulty Air Bag sensors - 5th generation CR-V has had a handful of complaints revolving around faulty airbags, especially on co driver’s side. The prominent cause for this has been faulty sensors and wiring which lead to inaccurate co-passenger weight readings by the sensor due to which the airbag lights fluctuate on the IC cluster.
Safety Complaints
  • Abrupt Engagement of Auto Emergency Braking - There have been many cases of recorded Auto Emergency Braking complaints wherein the drivers have described the issue as an auto application of brakes with no human prompt or input nor any risk or frontal collision. This has been rather worse than the safety standards expected from a Honda.
  • Failure of airbag deployment - For the 2019 Iteration, Honda seems to have overcompensated for the faulty airbag sensors and wiring as there have been a large number of complaints stating the complete failure of airbag deployment in events of crashes and accidents. This can end up in fatal accidents and hence need fixing at the earliest.

I haven't bought one yet because it's been 15 months and Ford isn't going to build it.

Also - the "build quality" doesn't change between trim levels there pal. Would you come after Sam Haymart for buying an XL? Or pointing out the substandard issues with the Maverick?

People who like the Maverick are also allowed to be critical of the Maverick. Customer feedback is important for the refresh and next generation Mavericks to improve upon what we have today.

And I sold the CRV and drive a Tesla Model 3 currently when not driving my Bronco.

G'day!
