So not ceramic, but interesting, the Ford Accessories site now has PPF listed. Price isn't there because it is out of stock, but curious what the cost will be with install.

Ironic how things that are constraints have no issue making it to the Accessories store with a huge markup compared to Factory ordering. The cleat/rail system that is removed from Lux packages for '23 is listed on there for $400. Yikes.

I was tempted - the dealer offered a Ziebart protection package for $895. Trouble was not sure what I would have been buying. Ziebart has both "Diamond Gloss" and a "Ceramic Z gloss" protection.

Ultimately I looked online and decided to just do one of the spray on/wipe off hybrid type ceramic coatings. Mother's CMX is like $18 a bottle, gets good reviews for both the shine and ease of use. I haven't done it yet as I'm getting "MAVERICK" letters installed on the tailgate in a couple of days and didn't want some super slick wax to interfere.

I'm sure it's not as good as a professional detailer using pro products. But it's also like 1% of the cost. And my Mav will live most of it's life in a garage.
I also did the spray on/wipe off coating and have been very pleased with the results. Used the Turtle Wax brand which recommends doing it twice for 6 months of protection. I figured I can go through a pallet of spray bottles for $800+.

You need to let the vehicle sit for 24 hours between coats. No moisture can come into contact with first layer of ceramic coating once it is applied. Two or more coats are recommended.

The ceramic spray does not differentiate on your power train. Think of the ceramic spray as a different technology regarding polishing the exterior of one's vehicle.

I want to keep this as pretty as possible, my 2009 escape hybrids paint hasn't done well with the extremes I've put it through. I will do the best I can while it's fresh.

Yes I did. Dealer did put something on when I picked it up, but the person I talked to didn't know if it was just wax or what, so I did decontaminate it.

Absolutely! For the money, I'm very satisfied with the spray on. Inexpensive, easy to use, and lasts a long time. I use Turtle Wax brand and they claim two applications will last 6 months. My experience is that's not a bogus claim. Of course, the ceramic 'coating' is a much more involved process and is expensive to have it done.

So I too used the turtle wax ceramic spray, was their any haze or product to wipe off when you did your application?

No haze, but one is directed to spray a small area at a time and then wipe off immediately. If you get streaks, just spray again and wipe. You'll be keeping both hands busy, so it helps to have a friend follow behind you and do the wiping off. After you do the hood try setting the bottle down on it. $100 says it won't stay.

Doing CC is not rocket science. There are several DIY u-tube videos. There is significant erroneous information from chatrooms like this one. Several here say you will "not need to claybar" a new truck....coming from people that have never CC a vehicle, and don't know any better. All Maverick's are delivered by rail and the nature of rail transport is metal dust all over the vehicle that is not going to come off with a "dealer car wash".

When you do a Claybar of a new Maverick you instantly see the low budget paint job on the Maverick....when you see the Claybar applicator get smoother and smoother as you rub the paint surface, the Claybar takes care of this roughless as well as it can. Deaminate chemicals (in the kits) are readily available at places like AutoZone....good Ceramic Costing kits are all over the internet for $100-$150. The difference is mostly is what is in the kit, applicator pads, how many good microfiber rags it includes, etc. Every kit I have purchased will do at least 2 vehicles.

I've CC 5 cars, 2 motorcycles and the Maverick...The Maverick is harder due to the height of the hood and roof, takes a ladder. The prep parts took 5-6 hours, the CC is the easiest part, 2 hours. It is a waste of time to do a CC without a garage to store the vehicle in from dust and any moisture for 24 hours. Many CC dealers are start-ups and do a rush job with inexperienced workers...I found most DEALERS simply sub out the work to dealers and justifiably add a heavy markup to cover warranty and complaints. Nothing against have a profit.

The Porsche to the left was Ceramic Coated 6 yrs ago and still beads with a garden hose.

If I did not have the time or willpower to do a CC I'd check out independent CC shops that do it full time...with experience.

Like the title says, has anyone got a ceramic coating from their dealer and happy with it, and what did it cost? Picking my truck up next week.
I have been waiting 14 months for a build date and still don't have one. When a dealer called my up and told me i could pick up a new maverick i almost jumped at it. The only thing is they added about 5,650 dollars in add ons. One of which was the ceramic coating $2,000 Ceramic window coating $699, window tint $150, Extra brake light $299, Tailgate assist $100, Body undercoat $1699, 3-fold bed cover 1299, Maverick Lettering $150 and there were some other things too. I did not see any of these as offering any real value to my truck but did add an additional 500 in state taxes and increased the registration fees by about $120, not to mention increased the payments and interest significantly.

The truth is i could probably do most of those things myself and do it for less than 1,500.
If I want any of these things I will pay a local shop or do it myself. those items would increase my taxes, registration or the amount of money I pay on interest. I don't begrudge them wanting to make money but i will gladly wait another month or two to save $5,000. My guess is they would make at least $2,000 to 3,000 after parts and labor for the work they offered. It would not have improved the value of the maverick $1.00.

I used to paint cars back in the 70s and 80s and the technology has come a long way since then.
I cant speak for you but for me that is $5,000 I can spend elsewhere. Not for me thank you.

Let them know up front you don't want any of that.

Your right, slid right off. I really like how it coated all the black plastic, hopefully it will stay that way for a while
