Don't know if this is the right thread, but does anyone know if I can add Navigation to my MY22 Lariat Lux? Would really like to have it, guess I need to get my truck first. Supposed to be built Saturday, Sept. 24th. Just wondering......
Thanks!
You can and it should work if you have the satellite GPS aerial built into the antenna. There are threads on the forum how to add things like Nav and Sync 4 to these trucks. Still the most reliable and cheapest long term option is to buy something like a Garmin and lifetime maps. It is a one time purchase unlike the Nav systems or phones which you'll pay each month to keep them working.

The various cell phone mapping apps download "tiles" of data corresponding to your current position and the next one or two "tiles" ahead of you, but not necessarily the entire route, and you can wind up "off the tile" if you deviate from you planned route because your wife wants to go look at some quilts or something (just a "random" example)...

Anyway, we're in the middle of nowhere, and suddenly the mapping app on the phone says "oopsie, I can't help you any more because you're out of communication."
You may already know this since you know that the cellphone maps usually bank some data in case of cell signal loss, but maybe not!

At least for Google Maps, you can go and select your own rectangular (well.....any 4 sided box shape) map area to download for offline use. Can be as small as a neighborhood (don't know why you would need an area that small) or as large as a state or even region. The sky is the limit (and your phone internal storage space). For Google, it will even automatically refresh the data every 30 days to ensure it knows about the latest new roads or whatever.

If I am going on a road trip, I always manually select the map area that I am traveling in, with a generous buffer around my route. Works like a charm. Half the time I don't even realize I was out of cell signal range until I get back in range of a tower and I suddenly have 1,000 messages from various apps and people sending me text messages, emails, etc....

Yep - I was about to add that info to the original reply I had started, but my wife asked me to walk the dog, and when I got back, I forgot I hadn't actually added it... As I get older, the line between "I'm gonna..." and "I did..." gets more and more blurry. :sneaky:

I've used that with Google Maps, but I found the process to be a bit cumbersome. Also, I used to live out in the boonies, on a Private Road. Even when they entered the address correctly, Google Maps would consistently send people to a completely different private road in a town that was 30 miles away, instead of to the address and town they had entered. It would do the same for me about 50% of the time... Because of that, I just quit using Google Maps entirely. I either use the default Apple Maps (which is now quite good, by the way) or use Waze.

So true! LOL

So, basically, for a 2023 XLT with the Lux pkg, you’ll be paying more money for MSRP than a ‘22 model, and won’t have any bed liner, whether it be spray in or drop in, at all, and no bed rails. They will be added options, which cost more money. Oh brother!! So much for ordering an XLT with the Lux pkg!!

Is it true that they’re getting rid of leather wrapped steering wheels and only putting in a vinyl wrap steering wheel standard for XLT and up for the 2023MY? I’ve always had leather wrapped sterling wheels, so I don’t have any experience with this material. Is it just as durable or a total down grade.

I use this feature all the time. I go into a couple areas where connection is spotty. Plus, using this keeps the phone from having to constantly connecting just for map data which keeps the phone running cooler. Glad you mentioned this - it's an almost hidden feature on Google Maps.

I've been hearing the order banks will close by month end. So only THEN will the info be available online?

Makes perfect sense. 🤪

Also, so the only real difference between XL and XLT is the wheels (and the exterior keypad, I guess)?? Any wheel option for XL other than steelies, cuz I can definitely live without the external keypad.
No-interior has different upholstery and more.

Got my order in for a Lariet the first day. Salesman said that the options included in the 360 assist package were supply change shorted, so they were moved to an option. Same with bedliners.

This news made my XL decision concrete! I was going to change rims anyways, so after adding the 360-copilot to my XL, I get the adjustable motorized side mirrors AND free Cruise Control. woop woop. Could care less about the plastic finish on side mirrors or "Auto-lock for bed". Saving 2k in the process, and frankly I think the XLT finishes on inside are chaotic.. not sure i care for orange bin and white sections on black chairs. looks unfinished. XL all the way baby.
The only option that I wanted on MY23 XL was Co-Pilot 360, Cruise was already added! Figured it would be the easiest to get built before June of 2023. And yes I save $ also!!!

What are the detailed steps to creating this offline Google map?
