There's no probably about it, they absolutely would. As would lighter rims or tires.The stock hood is already pretty darn light. I don't know about that one. Flat rims or aerodynamic hubcaps would probably give you more MPG.

Carbon fiber would not be much if any lighter then an aluminum hood. Most carbon fiber hoods are actually fiberglass with an additional layer of carbon fiber layed on top of the exterior. Because of cost. A true and only carbon fiber hood are real money. Like $3k+I see that it is made of aluminum and that carbon fiber would still be lighter.
So the follow up, is how much potential savings could there be in a year?
I thought that was already a "standard feature" of the Maverick...Once you get to carbon fiber hoods, you should already have a stripped interior.
