I went from a 2012 F150 Lariat supercab to the 22' Maverick Lariat FX4. Very happy with the Mav. The F150 was a little more comfortable on long drives, but I don't miss the 14-17mpg I routinely got, or how much of a PITA it was to park in comparison. The Mav is more fun to drive, and is enough of a pickup for the times I need a pickup, which frankly isn't all that often. It's my daily driver and for that, it's great. I don't feel like it is too small at all.

I have an F 250 and a Maverick and I love both.

Keep in mind the maverick is more like a car but it is a lot of fun to drive and has truck capabilities.

And the Maverick MPG is fantastic. I have an XL 2.0

Hope that helps

I kept the 2000 f150 and sold the 18 escape when I got the maverick, it’s our daily driver. The f150 is a beater with a heater for hauling stuff that I don’t have to worry about getting beat up. I’ve had the f150 6 years and haven’t put 10,000 miles on it

I'm curious about everyone's experience going from a full size truck to the maverick.
Well first, the conversion involves a lot of body work. All new sheet metal and drivetrains, it's pretty involved. 🤣

Seriously though, big trucks are proverbially a dime a dozen. U-Haul rents them for ~$20 plus mileage as you need them, and there are other rental options.

Owning a much smaller truck that can handle a large part of your needs, and renting a larger truck as you need it seems like a much smarter move.

Before I got my Maverick I was anxious about this problem too. I traded my 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 in for my VB EB FX4/4K Maverick. I don't miss the gas spent on my daily 35 mile commute at 19MPG, the difficulty parking a big truck or the annoying electrical/mechanical issues of an aging truck (the GMC had 130k miles on it).

I will miss the raw towing capacity, the large size of the bed and being higher than most other drivers (drive-thrus were always more pleasant being higher). And I just didn't really need that extra towing capacity.

We haven't take a long road trip in our Maverick yet so I am a little concerned about stowing all of our luggage and stuff in the bed and keeping it dry even with a soft, tri-fold cover. But I am excited about the gas saving with gas prices creeping back up again I feel even more justified in my decision.

All in all I am very happy with my choice and I can still tow my 10 foot trailer if I need to haul anything that doesn't fit in the bed. It's definitely a win for me! I've had my truck for more than a month and I am very happy.

My wife asked me, if money wasn't an issue would I still get the Maverick? I thought a long time about it. I do love a nice, big truck and I have to say that if money truely wasn't an issue I would have a brand new GMC Sierra. But the reality is I need to save money and I can't justify spending stupid amounts of money on something like a Sierra when the Maverick is a far cheaper and more economical truck that satisfies my needs and is just as comfortable and pleasant to drive.

Cheers!

I've owned multiple vehicles small to large, they all required a little time to get comfortable with, but you do.
I just don't need a big truck, want better fuel mileage along with sportier handling. I think the Maverick will fit that bill for me. I will miss the higher driving position, but I drive my wife's Escape once in a while and I'm comfortable with that, as I was with my previous Cherokee, too.

I sold my F-150 Limited right after ordering last fall. I really didn't want to spend another $80k on a fully loaded NICE vehicle so I was willing to take the chance I would like the First Edition Hybrid. While waiting I drove an older Fusion we had but since it was taking so long and no end in sight I bought a Mach E. Talk about a cool vehicle!!! My Mav came in last week so I had to make the decision which to keep. I went with the Mav simply because the Mach would only take me 200 miles before I was searching for a charger. I LOVE the Mav. Yes it's smaller but I already have noticed thats ok. I can get stuff out of the bed without climbing up the sides or crawling in the back. No it doesn't have the cab space but it's usually just me anymore so not a problem. I will say tho that we do have another F-150 to use when we need more room so I'm not sure I'm a good comparison!!

I'm going from an 03 F-250 to the Maverick. I used an Escape as my daily driver and both vehicles were near the end of life. I wanted to a truck that would replace both cars and the Maverick was the best option. I never towed anything near 4000 lbs. Only downside is that I will end up using a trailer more due to the size of the bed, but that's not a regular thing so it wasn't a deal breaker.

My jury is still out, since my Mav hasn't been delivered yet... (due in a couple weeks, FINALLY), so I can't confirm if I made the right decision.

I had a '18 F150 with a tuned 2.7 that I LOVED, awesome truck in all regards. Right now I regret selling it, because I've been driving an SUV.....who knew it would take over a year to get a Maverick....

At any rate, as much as I loved my F150, I never came close to using it's full potential. I only tow a few times per year, and normally under 5K. Same with bulky payload, nothing a Mav couldn't handle. The payload of my F150 was only a couple hundred pounds more than my Mav will be. In the end, I wanted to downsize my cost, footprint, and economy. I'm 90% sure I'll be happy with the Mav, but we shall see.

I had a 2012 F-350 SuperCab short bed for my business but sold it when we decided to sell the business. I stepped down to a 1992 F-150 to use as a 3-season truck, figuring I'd use my Jeep and utility trailer during the winter months if needed.

Then along came the Maverick and the Jeep is now semi-retired. The '92 F-150 has been replaced by a '93 Lightning, so I still have a 3-season semi-classic truck with a 6' bed if I need it. I haven't needed it, though, except when we moved my son into his new house. The Maverick handles everything else, gets better mileage, and rides smoother.

The only thing I miss about the SuperDuty is that it was basically a show truck, accessorized to the hilt as a demo platform for the business. But I don't miss the 13 MPG fuel mileage or the size of it.

I went from a 2019 F-150 5.0 FX4 tuned with some bolt-ons to the Hybrid Maverick and have no regrets. I never used the F150 to its towing or hauling potential and having a daily 75 mile commute made it a no brainer. At one point I was spending about $20 per day on gas in the F-150. The Maverick pulls my trailer and lawnmower just fine and the bed of the truck has been surprisingly useful when you put the tail gate down at the 45 degree angle.

My horses are retired so I'm not hauling them anymore. I sold my 2006 Chevy 2500HD to friends for use at their cabin when I bought my Mav.
I can still haul hay bales and feed for the horses, or construction materials for my home DIY projects, which all I need a truck for now.
30mpg vs 8mpg is a huge win! I also like the lower bed and step-in height. And it's a joy to drive. No regrets.
