On my way home doing around 60 and slowing down for red light. Took my foot off the gas and was coasting. All of a sudden I feel something weird. Felt like the engine had stalled. Pressed on the gas and nothing. Stayed at 40mph. No lights, no warnings, nothing. Pulled over and sat for a few minutes with truck still running. Put it back in drive and the truck acted normal. Drive normal. Anyone else experience this?

Hybrid? sometimes the gear style drive selector can accidentally be put in neutral while driving. (I've done it before). You can just pop it back in "D" and it's all good

Yes it's a hybrid but that is not what happened. It was definitely in D the entire time

Unless the truck did not respond at all to increased throttle (and why would you speed up for an approaching red light anyway?), that sounds like completely normal hybrid behavior, where it shuts off the ICE when no longer needed, and maintains speed or regens with the electric motor.

It's the primary way that the hybrid drivetrain returns such incredible fuel mileage.

40 mph? isn't that when you're running on the battery to power the car?

Mine will sometimes not be super smooth transitioning from hybrid power to all electric. It can feel like a thunk as the engine cuts off. Not sure about the engine not responding, though. Haven't encountered that.. only 1,150 miles.

I attempted to speed up when it felt like the truck stalled because the I slowed down very quickly and I was still quite a distance from the vehicle in front of me. It did not respond at all to my attempt to speed up..

Given the absence of malfunction warning lights/messages, this still sounds normal, and more like just surprise/confusion on your part at the proper operation of the hybrid system.

Especially given how every modern vehicle is a networked collection of rolling computers, these vehicles are closely monitored, and even being a proverbial toe out of line will trigger warnings.

Hi there. This stall concern doesn’t sound like something we want you to experience with your Maverick. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to look into how I can assist you on my end.

Same issue. on the highway doing 80k in Eco mode - lost power slowly, no response on the gas, no warning lights of any kind. Pulled over shut it off, restarted and has been fine since. 2023 hybrid XL - 1000km on it.

Sorry you experienced this situation too. So I'm not crazy. Unfortunately I have not had this or any other issues with my maverick since. My sin totaled it back in December 2022!! 😥
