Perhaps part of the negative image surrounding dealers "price gouging" is the improper use of the term? Your use of it sensationalizes something that has been going on since the dawn of time for all goods and services, and that is called "market value", and there's nothing wrong with "market value". Is that truck priced higher than giraffe meowmeow? Yep, but no crime has been committed, that's the market right now for an item that is wildly popular and in short supply (kind of like gaming consoles and graphics cards last year). I haven't read all of the posts on this forum, but from what I've seen, stealerships are the ones who don't honor MSRP on ordered vehicles, not for ones pricing used Mavs at market value, if there are threads like that here, perhaps inform the OPs that that is totally fine, as that is what the market dicates right now.

As for Tim refunding money he didn't force anyone to donate, why do you think he should do that?
I am not sensationalizing anything. I am referring the perception of gouging creating a negative reputation like people talk about all the time on this forum when they use the word stealerships. I did not think LM wanted to be like the other dealers by charging fair markups instead.

As for Tim's donations, just because he did not force anyone does not mean it is OK. Even if Tim would never consider doing this, a customer expectation that a donation will be returned as a special favor by Tim is a conflict. Similar to if you gave a small claims judge a "donation" in the hope that he will rule in your favor. The judge never forced you to donate, but he cannot keep the money.

Name one dealer that disclosed their allocation numbers at time of ordering.
Read the posts and you will find the dealers people wrote about. Do you work at LM?

Ok, that shows us the value of a use Maverick. Can you show me the value of a new Maverick?
Look, all I'm saying is we can buy our Mavericks, generally speaking for around MSRP IF we order them, yet the used ones seem to be marked up with crazy numbers. Yes, the one in the OP has extras but almost 15K worth? Anyway, that's the way I feel and also feel no need for a verbal volleyball match here over it. It is really not all that important to me. You do you, I will do me. Cheers. :)

I agree Bob people love to attack no matter how rational your feelings are. Maybe they are trolls who work at the dealerships that try to make people's comments not seem credible, like RockCity saying no other dealer cut off orders early due to allocations.

AAAY, I edited my comment after you posted this, but before I read it (concerning the donations). But in the judge situation, I think that's considered bribing a public official which is against the law. As for the special favors aspect, I see it all the time on YouTube streams. Donations with a comment or question get acknowledged faster than "regular" comments. They're highlighted to stand out, that's a YouTube thing (maybe a Twitch thing too I can't remember). It's one way of showing appreciation for the work he's putting in, and an entrance into the door marked "private". It seems icky to you, and that's ok...but that's business in the online streaming world. And full disclosure, yes, I'm a member...but no, I do not have an order in with LM, I ordered locally (didn't want to be locked in to financing with LM, or trying to schedule flying out to drive my Mav back home). But I do enjoy the inside information that membership provides...

What you think is "fair" is irrelevant. How about this, tell me how much LM paid for this vehicle so we can have a better sense of their greed.

Also, why do you keep naming Tim? He doesn't own the place or set the prices.

(y) Well, I gotta tell you, I am looking forward to this market settling down a bit but as long as folks are willing to pay crazy prices the dealers will continue to ask crazy prices.

I don't really see the issue. Long McArthur has always been transparent about their operations, which is why so many of us like them. They are upfront about the fact that they charge $500 ADM for all their Maverick orders, and nobody complains about that because they are transparent about their order process and following through according to Ford's instructions. That's worth the peace of mind for many people. They have been transparent about the "free transportation up to $1000 deal" where they can fly you up to Kansas for pickup, but only if you go through their financing. Tim has stated clearly that this is done because they get a commission from the banks for doing financing through them. If you don't do that, then no $1k credit for you. Tim has also mentioned that Long McArthur does sell customer canceled orders with additional ADM. He has mentioned that they have instantly sold Mavericks with $5K ADM and nobody seems to bat an eye.

As a customer, it is up to you whether or not it is "worth it" to pay the ADM, or go through the waiting game that many of us are doing hoping we can get our Mavericks as close to MSRP as possible. I don't really see the big deal here.

FMC did not give any dealers their allocation numbers until long after the order banks closed. Zero dealers knew their allocation numbers at the time of ordering, so zero dealerships would have been able to cut off orders early due to allocations.

This too...I've seen posts of people who didn't order from LM wondering if their order was put in properly,or if changes were made properly. I agree with the rest of your post SE, just wanted to highlight that sentence

Look, Tim is a nice guy and has some very helpful information. But he's simply a good car salesman who works for a typical car dealership. Car dealerships are all the same, no matter what they claim otherwise.

I just noticed that the LM ad on the first page of this thread says: "Great Deal $9752 under". That means their XL for sale is actually somehow valued at $49,747. This is not misleading?
