I've had several Fords with the keypad going back to my 1991 Thunderbird and I have to agree it's a very hand feature. I do have to admit that most of the Ford's that I owned were before push button start so leaving the key hidden in the car wasn't as much of a risk I guess. But I still don't think it's much of a risk now as long you're not leaving it in plain sight where someone might see it.the small risk of a smash break in and steal is worth it over the annoyance of keys in pocket for a run, bike, kayak, etc.
the keypad is the only reason i buy fords.
It really is a very handy feature especially for those that like to do outdoor activities and exercising.
