If true I'd say they are doing it to not so much for sales but as a marketing gimmick to try to get the perception that a Santa Cruz and future similarly designed vehicles that look the same are not trucks but SUVs or cars with beds.

This render/photoshop is from a rumor that 21Truck published back in 2021 before the Maverick had even been officially announced. It's literally backed by nothing but speculation.

21Truck is about as reputable a source as a grade school playground.

After seeing all the interest in a mini-Truck, would it not be incompetent to say maybe we should make it bigger and more car like? The reasons I purchased the Maverick was it was cheap, fuel efficient, had a usable bed, 5 passenger, and looks more like a truck than a car or SUV. Just focus on making the vehicles that are already sold and selling beyond capacity.

Motor Biscuit is mostly clickbait lacking credibility. That article is months old. If there was a '23 model it'd have been announced by now. And the image is explicitly a rendering.

As I posted earlier, the image they used is sourced from 21Truck, which they posted from a Pre-Maverick announcement rumor in 2021. 21Truck repeated the rumor in 2022, just recycling it with new dates. 21Truck posts a lot of things that aren't remotely true.

The only source linked in the Motorbiscuit "article" is from "PickupTruckNews.com" -- which as far as I can tell digging in is owned and operated by the same people who run 21Truck.

Putting aside that if the "New Ranchero" was real and this far along that we should have seen test mules or leaks at this point, none of what you've seen is remotely credible. You need to learn to vet your sources better.
