Who said they were borrowing moneyI’d really like to know how in the world banks are financing people for loans $10,000+ over MSRP and KBB/NADA values. Just seems absurd.

If the buyers are well qualified the lender is probably fine. If the buyer totals it they owe what they borrowed so they may have a shortfall when their insurance pays them.I’d really like to know how in the world banks are financing people for loans $10,000+ over MSRP and KBB/NADA values. Cash?I’d really like to know how in the world banks are financing people for loans $10,000+ over MSRP and KBB/NADA values. Just seems absurd.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As I said, I wouldn't sell it for what I paid.Every used Maverick I have seen, has lost its most important feature: a good value.
It is similar to the decision about when to take social security. I wanted to enjoy this truck now. We don't know the future.I had a chance to get one very close to what I want for $5000 over MSRP and just a few miles from test drives. It took me a while to think through that and it was gone. In retrospect I probably should have pulled the trigger. Another year of driving it is probably worth it at my age and $5000 is not going to make a difference in my life.
AH! but do you have a Maverick? Thanks, I already am married to the beautiful girl and we have land (real estate)! Thanks
I am the original poster. I have Hybrid XLT, now with 12k miles on it. I traded for it used on a Ford dealership lot 3 weeks ago.AH! but do you have a Maverick?
Heya old buddy old pal! How’s it going my friend. Saya, I’m a little hard up right now just dealing with some things, and chance you could toss a few duckets my way?at my age and $5000 is not going to make a difference in my life.
So now I have to read the rest of this thread to see if these guys wound up with SAME acreage.Reminds this old man of a true story from his distant youth.
My brother worked at a marine engine parts store. One day a fellow came in and asked if he had a certain unusual part. My brother told him he did. The fellow was quite relieved since had had been searching all over for that unusual part. The fellow asked him the price. My brother told him $850. The fellow exclaimed that the price was much too high, the other marine parts store only wanted list price, $350, for the same part. Brother asked him why he didn't buy that part from the other store. The fellow replied that the part was not in stock there. My brother advised the fellow that they charged the same low price when they were out of stock too. The fellow paid $850 for the part and spent the rest of the summer enjoying his motorboat. He met a beautiful girl at the marina, with vast tracts of land, married her and lived happily ever after.
I paid more than MSRP for my truck too. It was well worth it to me. Coincidentally, I also married a beautiful girl with vast tracts of land and lived happily ever after.
I hope the OP enjoys driving his Maverick, meets a beautiful girl with vast tracts of land and lives happily ever after.
Naw, no shortfall, the lender would require about $1k added to loan for GAP insurance. If the buyers are well qualified the lender is probably fine. If the buyer totals it they owe what they borrowed so they may have a shortfall when their insurance pays them.
Been there done that. Lots of years of scraping by.Heya old buddy old pal! How’s it going my friend. Saya, I’m a little hard up right now just dealing with some things, and chance you could toss a few duckets my way?
That was my point. My original post was kind of harsh, but having experienced a Maverick I just can't wrap my mind around it. For what it is and what it cost at MSRP, it is absolutely fantastic. For what must have been in the mid $30k range for a used $23k truck, it's just too absurd to fathom - for me. I didn't accumulate what wealth I do have by making terrible financial decisions. Buying a new car at all is bad enough from a financial standpoint most of the time, and overpaying by such a significant margin on what is supposed to be a value item is truly a terrible decision. But it isn't my money, so there's that.Every used Maverick I have seen, has lost its most important feature: a good value.
