I found the truck I would have ordered. It was on a Ford dealership lot 200 miles from me. It is Shadow Black with Navy Pier-Medium Slate interior. It is an XLT Hybrid with Ford Co-Pilot360. The only catch was it already had 11k miles on it and the price was $11k over MSRP. I immediately took a road trip. They made me a generous offer on my 2015 (more than I paid 5 years ago) Ram 1500 and an equally generous discount on the 8 year 100k mile Ford PREMIUMCare warranty I purchased. I have put 1200 miles on it now and I couldn't be happier (unless I had ordered, paid MSRP and didn't have to wait) with the performance, mileage, technology, etc. I wouldn't sell it for what I paid.

For those of you wanting one so badly and having to wait so long, maybe you could consider searching for a used one, especially if you have a desirable trade in.

Or maybe we can wait instead of paying 5-digit numbers over MSRP for a truck with 5-digit odometer readings? Sorry, that makes zero sense regardless of what "generous" offer they make you on a trade in. All triple priced items half off.

Let's say you buy a washing machine that is on sale for $500 but the normal price is $999. Did you save $499 or did you spend $500?

Point is, you had equity in your Ram. You threw that away.

Ah well, if I decide to sell mine then I hope there's someone like you to buy it.

On the one hand, if you feel like paying >$10k over MSRP for a used vehicle, more power to ya.

On the other hand, you're just encouraging the market inflation to continue.

Well, I wasn't really asking whether this made sense to anyone. Thanks for the feedback! I have the truck I wanted now, not a year from now. I see a lot of very frustrated, unhappy people on here about a truck. I was pointing out to the group there is a way you can get one much sooner. I didn't want to wait, I wanted to enjoy it now and was willing to pay for it. You don't have to buy a Corvette, you can buy a used Chevy Geo. It depends on your priorities and ability to pay. (By the way, I didn't get your washing machine point. It seems I have bought a washing machine for $499 less than original price.)

There are people ordering multiple Mavericks simultaneously (I see some on here) and "flipping" them like cheap real estate. There would be a buyer for yours.

Reminds this old man of a true story from his distant youth.

My brother worked at a marine engine parts store. One day a fellow came in and asked if he had a certain unusual part. My brother told him he did. The fellow was quite relieved since had had been searching all over for that unusual part. The fellow asked him the price. My brother told him $850. The fellow exclaimed that the price was much too high, the other marine parts store only wanted list price, $350, for the same part. Brother asked him why he didn't buy that part from the other store. The fellow replied that the part was not in stock there. My brother advised the fellow that they charged the same low price when they were out of stock too. The fellow paid $850 for the part and spent the rest of the summer enjoying his motorboat. He met a beautiful girl at the marina, with vast tracts of land, married her and lived happily ever after.

I paid more than MSRP for my truck too. It was well worth it to me. Coincidentally, I also married a beautiful girl with vast tracts of land and lived happily ever after.

I hope the OP enjoys driving his Maverick, meets a beautiful girl with vast tracts of land and lives happily ever after.

Definitely happy, no regrets. I am suggesting an alternative to some of the unhappy folks on here.
Some folks just are not happy unless they are miserable!

I bought a used Maverick last week over MSRP with only 1000 miles and I am absolutely glad I did. I needed something now not a year from now. I still have a Hybrid on order and may keep it or sell it. I don't know. I am happy and it sounds like you are too. All that matters. Happy driving not happy waiting!

Thanks, I already am married to the beautiful girl and we have land (real estate)! Thanks

I’d really like to know how in the world banks are financing people for loans $10,000+ over MSRP and KBB/NADA values. Just seems absurd.

That's kind of harsh, don't ya think. So the guy paid over MSRP. Besides you, who cares. He has his reasons, it a free market and it's worth it to him.
Hell, I've got 2 on order. I might give one up if I found a good used one that I could get right now. The fuel savings alone would make up the difference in way less than a year.
I'll most likely wait for mine but I get why he ponied up the extra cash.
I'm happy for him. He's driving around in a rig that everyone wants, including you and I. I'm kind of envious actually.
