Finally found something about my Maverick that I don't like - transmission lurch

Auto hold and auto stop/start are two different things. The first can be readily switched on or off at the driver's discretion, the second cannot without an aftermarket gizmo.

Auto Hold setting is persistent. It relieves the need to hold down the brake pedal when stopped. It'll automatically switch to the parking brake as needed.

Auto Start/Stop (EcoBoost only) defaults to On every time.

Drive Mode defaults to Normal every time.

Headlights default to Auto every time.

Auto High Beams setting is persistent.

I am aware of auto start/stop and how it works. In fact, I've figured out how to get the engine to kick back on at a traffic light based on how much pressure I put on the brake peddle. But the auto hold is an optional setting. I didn't know it persisted or was useful beyond the drive thru line.

Out of curiosity, where does the idea that Auto Hold is for drive-thrus come from? It's just as helpful at a red light, stop sign, etc.

I live in a smaller town and don't sit at those long enough to care. In the drive thru, it is nice to let the car handle it. Especially since Taco Bell is a bit of a slow one.

And my first car was a 1990 Ford Tempo. I'm used to holding the brake.

When does it do the lurching. We have 2017 Chrysler with a similar style transmission and there are times when speed and road conditions change to fast for it to keep up. Using cruise control In a area with lots of hills and traffic. It feels like the transmission is going to tear itself apart. So far so good 87000 miles and runny good. Talk to you service manager see what he thinks.
