How important is the COVP process? I placed an order with a dealer today and he took a copy of my driver's license as well as a $500 deposit, and said the order was placed. About 20 minutes later, I received the confirmation email from Ford stating that my order was confirmed. I asked for a signed buyers order and he said he couldn't give me one because there is no vin number yet for the vehicle. He also didn't mention anything about the COVP process when I asked. He said they placed about 100 maverick orders today, so they are a high volume dealership and the reviews are very good for this particular dealer. Should I be concerned, or do you think my order is legit since I received the Ford Confirmation email? How would I go about doing the COVP process if the dealer isn't familiar with it? Or is it necessary?

I had the same question and forgot to ask at the dealership. All I got was a "Preview Order" sheet that we both signed.

Maybe @fordvideoguy can answer that. I plan on going back to the dealer Monday or Tuesday and asking for a copy of the COVP. I guess....... Maybe I need to go back and watch Tim's video on that again. Someplace I remember seeing you should get a copy of the DORA as well. Whatever a DORA is.................

Yeah there is too many technical terms here, but I would think they most larger dealers know what they are doing. I know a couple people who ordered mavericks last year and received them without even being familiar with any of this stuff.

Probably MOST people did that. Not everyone hangs out on forums or Facebook. And usually the process works. We just hear about the bad experiences because few people post that everything went well. :)

If they took your license then they should have done that, the point of scanning your license is to submit to Ford and attach it to your order so Ford knows that vehicle is requested by that dealer for a real customer and not just dealer stock. At least that’s my understanding so you should be good!

As long as they actually submit that drivers license. My dealer just entered the order said congrats, see you when it comes in. He did have a scan of my license, and he did make a point of asking (twice) if the address on the license was correct. Even read it out and had me verify.

Yeah I guess it wouldn't hurt to swing by in person and discuss everything. I did it all on the phone, and he seemed busy because he said they had a ton of maverick orders today. I did get the Ford Confirmation email though, that's all I know for sure. I don't have any other proof lol

The dealer bulletin Ford put out a couple of days ago said COVP/ROVP is encouraged but not required for the 23s.

Same thing happened to me today when ordering my XLT hybrid. gave my license and signed a worksheet with the managers signature. the salesman said this is your DORA. I did get a confirmation email from ford congratulating me on my order. I would like to know what a DORA looks like. watching long McArthur videos they state that it usually takes a day to get a DORA. so i'm skeptical that what I have is an actual DORA. If anyone has a photo of one please post. thanx

I ordered today from Long-McArthur (home of ford video guy) and had about the same process, but did not have to put any money down. Also, got the email from ford that everyone else is getting.

That's more than I received. I didn't even sign anything other than the spec sheet. Haven't received anything signed from the dealer. All I have is a Ford order confirmation email

I pushed the dealer because they did not want to give me a signed confirmation of cost. They sent me a form showing MSRP (which matches build sheet), doc fees, tax, and OTD price. Signed by sales manager, I signed as well.

Feel pretty good about it, dealer has done well by me. I have been the front of communication, but they haven't done anything to hurt the process so far.

Can you show us the email from Ford, or tell us exactly what it said?
As I understand it, and this may be shaky, if the Ford email states "Accepted order". That is good! I think it denotes an order that been accompanied by the COVP information and is ACCEPTED.
If the email only states order received, I THINK that means they are sitting on a non COVP order.
YMMV.
PS, I appear to be in the same boat as you are, but I didn't get a Ford email yet. My order was just entered yesterday afternoon. Supposedly a great dealer, so I'll wait a couple of days. But I will have to see evidence of COVP soon! I did get Priority code 13, without bringing priority code up, FWIW.

How do you find out your priority code? My email from Ford says Order Confirmed
