Anyone else have their cross traffic alert stop working. My XLT has co-pilot 360 with cross traffic alert. It was working when I first got the truck. Blind spot monitoring and Lane keeping still work. I make sure it was turned on in the settings. Each time I turn it off and turn it back on The mirror indicators blink. Thought I'd ask here before calling my service advisor. One last question, what sensors does the co-pilot 360 use?

Majority of the CoPilot 360 action is based on the camera mounted looking forward thru the windshield right behind your rearview mirror. If you look at your windshield from the outside, you will see a sort of triangle shaped void behind your rearview mirror. I don't think it jumps to this level on the XLT, but I know Lariat level (maybe with Luxury required) also has a radar in the front grill that assists with some features.

For the cross traffic alert portion of the CoPilot, it uses the backup proximity sensors in the rear bumper to detect approaching vehicles coming at you in a parking lot while you are backing out of a parking spot. How are you so sure that the cross traffic alert portion is not working? From what I have seen of the marketing materials (and in the manual), it has some major limits depending on if you are angled parking, if there are vehicles parked close to you on either side, etc... It also turns on and off based on speed, etc....

I won't dispute that there may be some limitations but my experience is that the rear cross-traffic alerts work very, very well and are very sensitive. Usually I get the warning long before I see the vehicle.

That said... I still check the mirror. 😁

It uses the same radar sensors that BLIS uses.

I second the notion how are you sure that it does not work?

When I was backing out of my driveway I didn't see my neighbor walking down the sidewalk. Until The driver's door was even with him on the sidewalk. It startled me. I have a tree in my front yard but I wouldn't think that would stop it from working.

Park a car 90 degrees and close to the end of your driveway and see if that works... On second thought maybe the vehicle has to be moving....?

Perhaps a person is too small, or he/she was too far away?? Do not know

Cross-traffic alert is intended for vehicles approaching >4 mph. A bike might trigger it, but a pedestrian is too slow or possibly too small in radar to meet the threshold.

As someone else said, the RCTA is not meant to detect pedestrians. I've had a lot of cars with the system and most of them have detected pedestrians, but it's not guaranteed and is specifically mentioned in the manual as a limitation.

I'd say adjust your expectations. If it detects crossing vehicles, that is all it is designed to do.

Thanks for everyone's help. Over the weekend I had a friend drive down my street. And the cross traffic alert is still working. I guess it isn't designed for pedestrians unfortunately. I guess for me I'd rather it watch for kids then cars.

Mine used to work a lot better (2022 xlt)! Most recent software update seems to have really "muted" its capabilities. Maybe a coincidence but it was simultaneous (software & reduced effectiveness). It also used to detect people, now no. And YES I'm sure because the sensitivity is noticeable (that's how I'm sure it's docent). Anybody else notice this? There's no way to assist its sensitivity that I'm aware of (unlike frontal and lane assistance). Anybody? Ford?

Why do people keep walking toward or behind vehicles backing up especially the Maverick that has the beeping sound in reverse?

What 'recent software update'? The Maverick only has OTA updates for the infotainment. Unless your dealer specifically did some reprogram with the CP360, it should be unchanged from new.

No nothing dealer-level so II guess a coincidence then? (I stand corrected) For sure, definitely different than new though, that's for certain.

I think all vehicles no matter what type of engine. Should beep when you back up.
