About the only things with toyotas I dont like are the alternating bland styling interchanged with planet bizzaro styling. Almost like they play it too safe, then tip some tequila and go too much party animal on the next one.
EXACTLY my view, stated so perfectly. There is like no middle ground. Except for one Toyota car the Venda or Vesda something can’t recall exact name. It had Prius like shape but made far less ugly, Hybrid as well. But the price was crazy high.
2022 Toyota Venza
Starting at $34,105 MSRP**
40 City / 37 Highway / 39 Combined Est. MPG*

Lol, my 10,000 dollar less truck has better gas mileage!

Yes, so does a 1995 Civic HX or whatever.. misses the point. The Venza is a much nicer vehicle than a Maverick XL. If fuel economy is the #1 priority, even the Maverick is the wrong pick.

I have seen a few, and the 2022+ don’t look good anymore. When I was shopping a few years ago, early Covid before masks and social distancing. Would have been 2019-2020 models.

To the Ford Social Media ‘Always On Team’ (that’s ‘sposed to be checking these things), 4 words to guide your Quality initiatives related to Hybrid Mavericks:
  • Dead Batteries
  • Faulty Harnesses
The 5th word should be a word that’s chilling and a precursor to either ‘pending’ or ‘inevitable’:
  • RECALL
Hope this helps you navigate this 1st year build!
From what I've read I would add these other issues that need to be addressed on the Maverick Hybrid:
Brakes and Paint

People act like Ford having quality issues is somehow specific to Ford. They don't also talk about how wheels are falling off of Toyotas, even though Toyota is supposed to be known for reliability. They still have their problems, we just don't hear about them much.

When a million plus people die (1,065,555 and counting, that's over 357 9/11 terror attacks) in a country and millions more are disabled from COVID and/or retire to avoid it, there's a huge knowledge gap. That gap will take time to be filled. In the meantime, that's what warranties are for.
Remember the Toyota “ Moving Forward, Even When You Don’t Want To” era lol.

Totally agree, those available on lot where nearly 40K and where breathtaking nice on the inside, the sunroof was massive like whole top of the car. Seats, dash, controls all top quality and comfy. But I couldn’t think to pay the same as my first house!
At that time I had a full sized Silverado so didn’t need a truck then.

Fine, show me a more fuel efficient hybrid truck with at least as much capability as the Maverick.

It better be, it has a base MSRP higher than a Maverick Lariat with the Luxury package!

same exact scenario with us. We swore off Mazda forever. However, we now have a 2021 Mazda CX9 signature currently and are thrilled with it.
The new Mazdas are sharp, and I think they have the best red paint in the business. But I still haven't been able to convince myself to take another chance on the brand.

You forgot soft glass. And tailgate is not level.

No. I just found the article from the WSJ and it gave me pause. Nobody wants to buy a vehicle that's gonna crap out. I am hoping since mine is such a late order ecoboost scheduled to be built this coming week, that maybe any of the bugs on the earlier ones have been worked out. I don't abuse my vehicles, however I dont have a whole lot of time in my daily schedule to drop a vehicle off and wait for warranty work either.
I just jumped on to give yall a little.... well you know :ROFLMAO:. Honestly this is my first and likely ony new vehicle. I work on all my own cars and rarely have the money to pay someone else to do any kind of work. I have always been a firm believer that any vehicle can be trashed in a week, kept pristine for ages, or simply kept alive for more than lives of their owners. All depending on who is driving em.

Sure bad things happen on assembly lines, I have worked on plenty and made my own mistakes. It can happen at literally any company and every company is constantly fighting the battle of QC and the randomness that causes defects. All it take is a cheating spouse and 6 pack starting at midnight for a 1st shift miss a torque check on a few thousand units. A company has to have pretty aggressive and most certainly well hated measures in place to prevent that. Its a fine line that involves hundreds of people in every company and variable can and will happen.

Yes, but you asking me to "show you a more fuel efficient truck" shows that you didn't understand the context of the conversation I was having with someone else, public forum or not. But let me help explain this to you.

If your number one priority is fuel economy, there are better picks that the Maverick. They may not be trucks, but that is not the point. The other person was speaking of the Venza. That is not a truck.

Hope that helps.
