Warranty Claim: Three CEL’s before 1,000 miles

So I’ve had this warning occur three times now. The first time was following filling the gas tank. I assumed the fuel flapper valve didn’t close fully so I cleared the warning using Forscan. Second time it happened when I was in Sport mode, which my model shouldn’t have (4K FX4). Cleared the warning and disabled Sport and Eco mode using Forscan. Now it’s happened in Normal mode.

Off to a dealer she goes!

Has anyone else experienced an emission issue with their Mav’s?

Highly unlikely. After the second event, the truck was restored to factory settings, and it still occurred. From the research I've done, these errors are normally the fault of a physical sensor or part.

Typically emission problems are caused by air getting into the system, which causes the engine to provide an overly rich fuel mixture.

The evap systems are a PITA. ALL of the old vehicles I have end up having permanent check engine lights on due to small leaks in the evap system. Fortunately, I do not like an area with emissions testing required for annual inspection.

On a new car, it really should not be an issue. Hope they get it sorted out for you. But on older vehicles (150,000+ miles) it's honestly such a common code I don't really even give it a second thought.

I agree. I'm not up in arms mad about it, just posting the issue here so others are aware. It's just annoying having a check engine light on a brand new vehicle when I've never seen one come on with the last six cars I've owned (Hondas). Additionally, with the light lit, it could cover up when a more serious problem occurs.

He unlocked a drive mode. Ford isn't denying anything for that. Come on....

Why would they? The warranty laws are very clear that unless what you’ve done to your vehicle directly affects the part in question, the warranty is still intact. A minor software setting change has zero bearing on an extremely small air leak in the seal of a small part in the emission system.

Get over yourself and stop thinking you are an expert in topics you clearly know nothing about.
