I agree with you, brother!!Total BS bill
TLDR (but you'll miss the best part...): We stop every 3 hours or so and charge for 15-20 minutes except we stop for 30 minutes for lunch while it charges as well. We had free Supercharging so the cost was $0. It was cheaper than gas when we DID have to pay for it but it was only a couple of times on the way back from our last trip and we still thought of it as cheap at the time though I can't remember how much it was. I watch Netflix while it charges... Well, the first 10 minutes of charging is bathroom break time.Sounds like you’re doing well with it. When you travel, how long does it take to charge? At what cost? What do you do while it’s charging?
And. If these things are ever a success the price of electricity will go up and gas will go down. That $7500 tax credit is being offset as most EV’s are having a price increase, plus there’s a brand new tax on EV’s that lawmakers have just passed. You’re not gaining anything but higher payments and more tax on an EV. Also consider the cost of charging an EV is almost as much as buying gas. And what about charging stations? They’re few and far in between. And what fuels those charging stations? Fossil fuel.
Of course if you were comparing it to a hybrid Maverick...........It literally costs us $0.04 per mile to charge at home... My F150 costs me $0.20 per mile in gas which is 5 times as much. My electricity is $0.12 per KwH so I suppose it could be higher for some people. For me, it's WAY cheaper to drive the EV than my F150. Tesla chargers are available enough that we can easily do cross country trips. They aren't as prevalent as gas stations, that's for sure but we take about 2 long trips a year so for the other ~340 days a year, it is super simple having the EV.
andNote the existing tax credit expires the moment the new bill is signed into law, which will probably be early next week. The only exception is for binding contracts that exist prior to the bill being signed.
So unless you have a committed purchase agreement with non refundable deposit in place in the next day or so, you won’t get the existing credit, PHEVs included.
I would add to this good comment that the reach of the EV incentives is actually “reduced”.Until you drive one and realize it is superior. The argument they are worse for the environment is pure BS mostly put out by people/groups that don't want or are just afraid of change - or have a political agenda that involves keeping oil companies happy.
EV buyers DO pay extra taxes because they are MORE EXPENSIVE. EV's are coming and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Embrace them, don't fight them
As to the new incentives, the main thing to understand is that they already exist today. This "new" bit just extends them instead of allowing them to expire or deplete as currently written into law. A lot of brands were going to mature out of the program as sales were limited to 100,000 vehicles per brand. Now they can keep rolling for a while longer. Nothing new here, just more of what we have now.
Yeah. I'm getting the Lux package and am curious how Ford does on their approved highways compared to Tesla on all roads. Maybe I can find a road nearby that Ford will work on and I'll do a side-by-side comparison but posting videos isn't really my thing...Thank you TyPope. Hope you ordered the Lux package and give us feedback comparing the line centering driving to your Model Y. Sure you all heard this about Tesla. But they used Model 3 instead of e, because Ford over a century got a tradrmark on Model e as well as the Model t.
This is going to sound coarse, but don't care about yesterday or people that will now fail to qualify. The America that I live in, those caps mean nothing. Yes, did commute 2 hours to a metro area where there were million dollar houses and use to go out for walks and look at all those houses and say to myself, must be doing something wrong with all those people able to afford those homes.and

There is a $150k single and $300k couple filing jointly cap. I speculate that a good part of yesterday’s ev buyers will no longer qualify.
I haven't looked to see what the income limits are currently, but 150k and 300k max out to qualify for the EV credit is not that wacky. While it is more common for people to make 150k plus today, you are still in the top miniscule percentile. Most electric cars range in 40k to 60k. That falls into middle income bracket for loan qualification for most, meaning good credit buyers making well less than 70-80k a year are buying them.and

Then ford rips that incentive based aid right out from under you with a coincidentally on par price increase.Think the point of incentives is to help people, who could not afford to go to EV to be able to have one. Not to give money to people with the means to buy one at anytime as the prices come down.
Two price increases since December or January now. Then ford rips that incentive based aid right out from under you with a coincidentally on par price increase.
But I thought only dealers are greedy these days?
I do not know what I would have disked more offering rebates to wealthier taxpayers or subsidizing $80000 truck/suv?This is going to sound coarse, but don't care about yesterday or people that will now fail to qualify. At the risk of sounding coarse, why should tax dollars be used to help someone buy a vehicle of any kind? That is not a government function, or it is not supposed to be. Dumb sh4$t like this is probably why they added 90k more IRS agents in the latest massive, stupid spend money we don't have bill. This is going to sound coarse, but don't care about yesterday or people that will now fail to qualify.
