Story: Went to test drive one a dealer's test-drive-only Maverick, since I planned on getting in on the next pre-order schedule. I was set on a Hybrid only, when I could put in an order. When I got there, someone had traded in their 2.0L EcoBoost (non-hybrid) Maverick, with only 10,000 miles on it, due to it not meeting their towing needs. I got the first chance to purchase it (some over MSRP, not happy with it, but not the end of the world either), and decided to go with it. I could wait forever to get a fulfilled order with exactly what I want, or I could enjoy a Maverick right now, still put in an order later, and trade it in at that point.

Pros: AWD, and the MPG really isn't that bad. Especially since both the Hybrid and non-Hybrid get roughly the same MPG on the Highway. Hot Pepper Red looks excellent on this vehicle. If I made the decision to order an AWD Maverick, this vehicle was literally optioned out exactly how I would want it, except for missing the 4K Tow Package...

Cons: For it being AWD, it's unfortunate that the 4K Tow Package was not added to the vehicle. Also, it's not the Hybrid engine... but that's the ultimate choice depending on your needs: Get a Hybrid, FWD-only, and limited to 2,000 lbs towing, or get a non-Hybrid, AWD, WITH 4k Tow Package... Decisions are difficult, lots of pros and cons both ways.

Will I live with this one? -> AWD is attractive for the elements, and I honestly haven't had many towing needs so far. I'm loving this truck, and the MPG hasn't bothered me as of yet. I can change course if my needs change, but in the meantime, I'm enjoying the new truck, and outfitting it with several accessories recommended throughout the forums. I'll have to post some pics once I get done tweaking the truck.
Congratulations! Enjoy your truck! Welcome to the HPR Club!

If this forum has proven anything, it's that Mav buyers are a diverse bunch when it comes to deciding on the drivetrain. There's really no "wrong" decision, as it all depends on the needs (and often just the wants) of the buyers. Wishing you the best on your AWD 2.0L HPR Mav, and rest assured that you definitely got the BEST COLOR offered.
The only aspect of your post that I find curious is your saying "the Hybrid and non-Hybrid get roughly the same MPG on the Highway." My hybrid is rated 33 mpg on the hwy, which, true, is just a bit better than the 30 mpg rated for the 2.0L Mav. BUT, in my real-world driving experience, I get 40 mpg when driving on an interstate hwy at 65mph in ECO mode. I don't know what you're getting in similar driving, so I'll ask: Are you getting 40 mpg (or close to it) with your Mav?

If I'm doing 1/2 city and 1/2 highway (roughly), it's averaging 27mpg. If I'm on the highway only, I'm getting 33-34 mpg. City only, it drops to 24 mpg. Compared to other trucks, this is excellent for an AWD truck, but it really shows the trade-off between engines.

Saw this bad boy at the Mets game last night. It’s actually inside the building behind center field. First time I’ve seen this color in person and it looks awesome. Tons of people checking it out.

I still have not seen HPR Mav on the road but this video compares a Mav to a HPR Bronco Sport. I would like one of each model in these colors.

Man, I just picked up a hybrid Lariat Lux in HPR, but I NEED those rims. I like the black a lot better. Anyone want to trade? :)

Im debating either to order the HPR or Area 51. I like them both. Does anyone who has a HPR Mav regret choosing this color? And if so why?

Both Area 51 and HPR are good colors for the truck, but very different. I have had my HPR truck for about 1 week and really like it still. I don't think I would like a Area 51 colored truck near as much. I have always had/have red cars and motorcycles so that's my bias.

I’ve owned both
Area 51 is a color that grows on you, Hot Pepper is just so good I can’t stop looking at it
Basically both colors are great you just have to decide how much attention you want to receive
I had the Area 51 for 6 months and I’ve have more people in 10 days comment on my Hot Pepper truck than in the entire time I had the other

I would also say it depends on the trim, I feel the XLT interior is better with the blue and the HPR kills it with the Lariat interior

I've gotta question I can't find the answer to: Why can't you get the aggressive Falken Wildpeak A/T 3W 235's on the unique black rims that are supposed to come with the FX4 package??? Seem like Ford makes you switch to the 17" Aluminum rims with those tires???????
