Just wanted to get your thoughts on this possible competitor to the Maverick, even with only two doors. Looks like a modern Ranchero or El Camino, which in my humble yet honest opinion isn't all that bad. Just fyi...my late father had a Ranchero when I was a kid!

I would buy the black model in a heartbeat! If it is ever produced, I suspect the price tag will be more than a Maverick. However the Ram is actually a bit cheaper than the F-150...

Does not look half bad. Probably going to get crap mileage though.

The headline seems a bit contradictory. If it's a midsize then it's not even in the same class, so how can it be a competitor? Might as well say "Dodge is targeting the Maverick with it's new Viper supercar". If the Rampage can be competitive price-wise, then maybe, but I doubt a midsize with the performance and features of a compact can pull that off. At this point we're talking about a Ridgeline, which often gets lumped into the Maverick/Santa Cruz debate because of its unibody design, however isn't a compact truck and costs almost 50% more. Size and price are the key factors in competition, and I don't think either will be comparable to the Maverick.

Will not compete with the maverick...2 door, limited seating. How many "regular" cab pickup trucks do you see nowadays...? And I'm not talking "vintage" ones....from 2010 up....virtually ZERO.

Personally I'm not interested in a "look at me" performance truck; I want the Mav because it's simple and honest. Different strokes for different folks, of course, but isn't this horsepower war thing getting a little tired?
